We have a cruise booked with a restricted rate in August. What happens if this travel requirement is still in place?

As it is, this makes no sense to me because (1) We live almost 7 hours away from NYC in NY. My town is entering phase 3 of reopening. (2) NY numbers, as a whole, are going down...our numbers are better than the numbers in Florida.

Just because the area you are in is not showing high numbers doesn't mean the virus isn't still infecting people there. And if where you'd be traveling to has higher numbers, you risk bringing it back into your area.

Whether or not I’d risk bringing it back doesn’t have anything to do with being in quarantine when we arrive in Florida. That would be a justification to needing to quarantine when we get back to NY.

yes...there are still people being infected here. There are still people being infected everywhere. So, why the requirement for NY (esp us in Western NY...far from NYC) when there is no quarantine requirement for areas with numbers much worse than ours (and going up when our numbers are drastically down)?

All that said...My ultimate question is if DCL starts sailing, how will this effect our restricted rate cruise. Since we will have no control over it.

I suppose, if there's a quarantine requirement in a location that you're traveling to (or returning to), you'll have to allow for the quarantine time.

We definitely can’t do that...can’t add 2 weeks (stuck where?) to a 4 day trip. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Wonder if insurance would coverr that.

I believe many travel insurance companies have adopted "except in pandemics" as a not covered cost.

The preliminary answer that I got was that we would be canceling under ‘no reason’ and we’d get a 75% credit to be used within 12 months. I can roll with that....and hopefully it won’t even come to that. We’d only cancel if we had to quarantine (before or after). It’s too early to stress over it.

Yes, if you purchased cancel for any reason coverage (which I will always do for every trip from now on), then you should get your 75% back.
