Tri circle D Ranch? trail rides

Has anyone done trail rides etc. We are a horse family and i just found out about the ranch. Any thoughts commits etc?

That's a really good question. I know they did a lot of construction around the ranch before Covid in preparation for a new DVC resort over there. I'm not sure they've reopened the trail rides again since construction was stopped and then Covid shutdowns.

The trail rides are happening. We saw people enjoying their ride this summer.
We have stayed at Fort wilderness but have never done the ride.
We do enjoy visiting the horses though. The barn is open to visitors. They recently moved the barn area and the new facility is really nice.

Before Covid shutdown we did the trail ride. Yes, you could go to the barn area, no fee.
the ride itself was a good time but Not for Real Riders imho… it’s more like a real slow walk horse behind horse, guide at the front and back. We saw some of the camp sites, a deer, rabbit, birds etc. it was enjoyable and the price is nominal in the big picture. However, as I said you literally could have Never been on a horse before, no experience necessary as it’s pretty much like remote control horses, lol. The guide and I basically talked almost the whole trail ride and that was nice.

Just as info, the trail ride horses are at the barn near the entrance to Fort Wilderness, the ponies and draft horses are at the TCD barn near the Settlement.

It was fun, enjoyed it.
Another experience to consider, if Open was the night time Safari ..We all loved it. ( we were at AKL and took the small bus that goes between the two resorts) headed to kidani. We scheduled for the latest one, I think it was 10pm. Less crowded. then you get on one of the Big Safari type jeeps ( seating was along the perimeter/benches. , they provide night vision goggles ( awesome) and you head out onto the Savannah. The guides were excellent. We saw so many animals and truly enjoyed it. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Yes, we've done the trail ride three times over the years, including once since Covid. You don't have to wear a mask while riding. Kids under 18 have to wear a helmet, but adults can wear one or not as they choose. They discreetly weigh everyone before the ride (they have a scale that shows them the results only & they don't say the number out loud), as there are weight limits for riding.

The ride itself is very pleasant and relaxing. It's a walk mostly through the woods, about half an hour of actual riding. I'm an experienced rider and enjoy just being on a horse in nature at Disney World), and my son had only trail riding experience, and also loved it.

Yup. The are always horses to view from a distance and on occasion if you are lucky they will let you or your kids interact with the horses when they are moving them around.

I'm also an experienced rider, but still had a fab time on the trail ride I did in 2019--I enjoyed spending time with horses, out in nature, on Disney property. There were four of us (all adults) on my weekday ride. My horse did spook from the deer, so I was named an honorary CM by the end of the ride

We went in August, we got destroyed by mosquito's on the trail/road they do the trail ride on. It was fun and my DD loves horses, although now I'm over the weight limit of 250 so I think it's probably done.
