Has anyone ever seen last minute cancellations at Trex? We are semi newbies to the whole Disney experience and just found out about Trex. My nephew is obsessed with dinosaurs and obviously with all the COVID limitations it’s all books up. Just curious if anyone has ever been successful snagging a reservation from a cancellation?

I would call the restaurant directly. They are not Disney owned and do not release all of their reservations to Disney. We have eaten their a couple times and never had a problem getting a reservation at the time we wanted by calling directly.

You’ll also want to look into getting a Landry‘s card. It costs $25 but you get that $25 back in welcome rewards. The card allows you to walk up and get the next available table without a reservation. That said, there have been reports that during the Covid time, the walk-up priority has been suspended. But, generally it’s a pretty safe bet that you’re able to get a table faster than anyone else.

In normal times we have been able to walk up but now we have used reservation planes like open table. I second the pp suggestion to call. I am not sure the age of your nephew but they have a special build a bear inside the restaurant but it’s build a Dino, complete with outfit choices it’s very cool. Just wanted to make sure you were aware for time/cost planning since you said you’re newer to this.

I love my Landry's card - got a few years ago and have used it every time we go to Disney (there is only one restaurant near us and it is 2 hours away). If you do not want to do that (it's free!) I would call them directly. Like the previous poster said, they are not run by Disney and they have more reservations than what they release to the Disney site.

I could not agree more with the people above..
I called about a month before our trip and got a great dinner time res. But we ended up changing our plans last minute. So we showed our landrys card they gave us a 45 min wait and that gave us enough time to spend money in the gift shop and the lego store across the way.
We also got last minute lunch reservations at Rainforest cafe at AK.. waited about 15 mins.
With the birthday points and the new start up credit our bill was about $50 instead of 100 it was awesome.
Another tip Sam's club ( and other wholesales) have discounted giftcards I got $75 gift cards for $50 because they were having a bounus sale.

You are my hero!! I called directly and was able to make a reservation for less than a month out when I've been looking randomly daily with no luck.

call TREX directly not thru Disney bet you can get that way. they release very few ressies to Disney

I called T-Rex directly today and got a reservation for late June. DS loves dinosaurs and this was my only “must have” reservation. Phone number on their website is the Disney line. Direct line to restaurant for reservations is 407-828-8739. Be prepared to call and hang up many times before you get through to someone - I called 11 times, but it worked!

I just called the restaurant yesterday and they said reservations have to be made through the Disney app...when did that happen?

At least the last 2 months. We called in November to try to get a reservation for our trip next week and was told the same thing.

Disney figured out the side door and locked it down! This is really a great restaurant to go to if you can get in. We let our kids do the Build-A-Dino and it’s still my son’s favorite stuffy.

You folks are awesome with the helpful tips, so I will add one, too. Check with your employer to see if they happen to offer the Landry Select Card for free, and you won’t be required to pay the $25 enrollment fee.
