TRex or Rainforest Cafe?

We’re travelling to DW in 2 months, and will be spending our first day relaxing outside the parks and visiting Disney Springs. I want to take our two girls, 9 & 6, to either Rainforest Cafe or TRex for lunch and was wondering if anyone has a preference for one over the other?

I realise they are not fine dining, but since we have no restaurants anything like them where I live, I thought it would be a fun lunch for the family!

Same but different. There are Rainforest Cafes in other locations, as far as I'm aware T-rex is one of a kind.
We couldn't get an ADR for T-rex for our upcoming trip, for some strange reason, so we've made one at Rainforest instead.

There was one other T-Rex Cafe in Kansas City...not sure if it's still open or not.

We've done them both and liked T-Rex slightly better. The dinosaur theme is great and we thought the food was good.

I am going to have to go with Rainforest Cafe for our preference. When my middle daughter was six we went to T-Rex because she loved dinosaurs. While the atmosphere was great for that, the menu just didn't seem to have as many options as Rainforest Cafe. A couple of us just had settle with something that wasn't really what we would have liked. Also with the Rainforest Cafe, for some reason the one at Animal Kingdom is much better than the one at Disney Springs.

T-Rex also does reservations outside of Disney's ADR system, and tends to have better availability. You have to call the restaurant direct.

Or, for another option... Consider joining the Landry's Select Club. Sign up ahead of time. $25 to join, but you get a $25 credit that you can apply to your bill. So that's a wash. The better perk is priority seating. Walk up to the host stand, show them your card and request a table. No reservation required and usually seated within a few minutes.

I got my reservation for T-Rex by putting in for a table of six instead of four. Worked like a charm.

I think you will find them both similar for food. My kids loved both for the atmosphere. TREX is definitely much louder but probably a bit more interesting for the atmosphere plus there is the bone dig (I guess you'd call it that...with the sand) :)

If you do Trex request anything but the ice cave. It’s. The. Worst.
Blue food and blue family

I’ve only been to T-Rex once and I felt the food was actually pretty good. About the same quality as the average Outback. Both have great theming, but I’ve had multiple experiences with Rainforest Cafe and never felt the food was very good.

They are both fairly similar. Very themed and very loud! I love them regardless! :)
I preferred the menu at T-Rex just a smidge more. Seriously the juiciest chicken I had all week (though the drinks may have addled my brain a bit). I do like the theming at Rainforest cafe better.

Also agree with a previous poster...avoid sitting in the ice cave at t-Rex.

T-Rex is fun! The food is pretty standard restaurant food. Like you say, not fine dining, but it's still pretty good. The only downside is that it can be LOUD! Loud and potentially crowded. Rainforest is nice too, but if I had to choose I think I'd still go to T-Rex.

If you have trouble getting a reservation through Disney, check out Opentable.com
I think with the Disney Springs restaurants only about half of the tables at various restaurants are available through the Disney website. The rest you can either book on OpenTable or just call the restaurant for a booking.

It's not, it closed last August. I only know because we live in the Midwest and I wanted to take our son there on a trip to KC last October and found out it was gone.

Does anyone have tips to reserve outside Disney? I'm trying to book t-Rex for August and can't find a table! I also tried their website and don't see where to book a reservation.

Call the restaurant directly at the number given on their website. The only give Disney a portion of their reservations.

Or, join Landry's Select Club and you don't even need a reservation.
