I'm not sure I even have a real topic. I just want to be mentioned on the Daily Fix. I'm a huge fan!

That being said, I should come up with something for everyone to talk about. So.......

What is an appropriate amount of time to spend at a Deluxe resort during your stay to make the added expense worthwhile?

For example, if you're staying for 9 nights at the Poly, should you have one resort day? Two? Should you do half days at theme parks to spend evenings at the resorts? At what point is staying at a deluxe not worth the time that you'll actually spend there?

I know some people book a value because they are going to be at the parks from opening to closing and some people book a deluxe because they want to spend a lot of time at the resort enjoying the amenities. But I don't think this way. I happily spend large chunks of the day at all resort levels just cause I want to. So for me, I don't feel I have to spend a certain amount of time at a Deluxe to make it worthwhile.

We don't spend much time at the resort. I book deluxe (Poly) for the convenience of getting to the parks and the quick access to the monorail resort restaurants. Also because we currently use a double stroller and it's a PIA to get on the bus.

WE rarely have resort only days, but we often only spend 2-3 hours in a them park on any given day. So we spend quite a bit of time relaxing at our resort.

Just curious: What is the Daily Fix?

Maybe enjoying the mid-afternoon/early evening most days would be good, and one full day in the middle. Especially if you have a Saturday afternoon where every park is busy, it might be more fun to just hang out at the pool.

I work two jobs and have to work hard to go to Disney. I love to stay deluxe but if Im working that much harder to afford the resort I want, I intend to spend at least some time there most days. With that said, I usually can't afford long stays at deluxe! So my trip this coming November will have a little compromise. We are going to focus on MUST dos in every park and won't stress if we can't see it all. We chose an Epcot resort because we are so close to two parks, that we can get away with visiting HS and Epcot several times and still get some resort time since everything is so close together. Other than 1 or 2 days, we plan to do half days at parks so we can enjoy relaxing breakfasts at the boardwalk or fun dinners in our area. We are staying 6 nights and only have 5 full days. I would say that's my bare minimum for a deluxe. I would never do a resort only stay like some folks like to do,so I know I will always have to factor in park time.

Don't think we've ever had a resort-only day, but we don't spend as much time in the parks as we used to. Back in our commando tourist days we didn't always get a deluxe because the room was a place to crash/shower/get back out there! If that's your style, a deluxe might be overkill. Now we enjoy chillin' at the villa after dinner most evenings, and we avail ourselves of the (DVC) in-room facilities for breakfasts, snacks, etc. I'd also say if some substantial pool time is on the menu, a deluxe will likely be more enjoyable for that.

Having been on these boards for years I don't recall too many folks regretting staying deluxe (as long as it was affordable.):earsboy:
