Treehouse villas

While I was on the river cruise from POR to DD a few weeks ago, our boat driver told us that the treehouse villas would be reopening at the end of the year.

Just wondering if anyone knows any more about this? What resort will they be affiliated with since Disney Institute is gone? I remember staying at the treehouses when I was a child and it was so pretty and peaceful. I'd love to stay there again (if the price is right of course! )

The concensus amoung CMs is that the treehouses will be incorporated as part of SSR at some point in the future. Apparently the area around the treehouses is now classified as "wetland" so WDW can either tear down the treehouses and leave the area free from any more development, or continue to use the "grandfathered" treehouses.

Thanks. I completely missed that thread in Rumors. It would be really cool if the treehouses did reopen one day.
