hi are the treehouse villas eligible for the free dining plan when it next comes out? Any info would be greatly appreciated :-) p.s I shall be booking from the uk if that makes any difference

Usually not, but the UK offers are often different. It is also rare. For treehouse villas to make it to CRO from the DVC pool.

Thanks for the reply :-) what does CRO stand for? I'm just looking for the best place to book space wise for 7 of us and snag the free dining promo at the same time

CRO stands for Central Reservations Office. The Treehouses are Disney Vacation Club (DVC) properties so DVC members can book them ahead of the general public.

CRO is Disney's reservation system. I'm not even sure if they still call it CRO. It used to be that if you book a room-only reservation, it went thru CRO but if you booked a package, it went thru the Disney Travel Agency.

DVC is Disney's timeshare. The THVs are owned by DVC and members usually book them up. Any DVC inventory that isn't booked by members by a certain date gets turned over to Disney's general reservation system to be filled.

For 7 people, any 2-bedroom "home away from home" villa will suffice. While the THVs are nice, they are very remote with respect to the rest of SSR. You are a significant distance from the pools, dining, shopping and bus route. And there is parking for only one car. A 2-bedroom located elsewhere in the SSR complex would be easier to book and closer to the amenities.

That said, even when a Treehouse is available via Disney Reservations, I believe they are usually excluded from free dining, along with all Grand Villas.

Inventory is so small, they don't need to discount to get them filled. So they don't.

I don't know about free dining, but we had no problem booking a treehouse villa at the end of July last year outside of DVC. We did book a little over 6 months in advance.

We loved the treehouse villa. Since we had a car, it was easy to pop over to the pools or drive to the parks. The buses run through the villas too. If we did not have a car, I think we might have felt differently about the location though. Just something to consider.

Thanks for all the replies we liked the secludedness of the tree houses as I have a grumpy father who can't handle too much disney so we're hoping it would be the best of both worlds where he can have peace and we can jump in the car and do our own thing. However free dining is what we are mainly after as we can only really justify disney with all the free food so we will prob end up in a two bed at okw. Thanks for all the info :-)
