Last week while at SSR in the grandstand, we watched them constructing the treehouses. THese are not rehabs, the old ones are torn down and these new modular units are brought in and slid into place by a big crane. Its pretty cool. We did see the aftermath of what looked to be a modular unit that must have fallen off the crane or truck. The CM at the bus stop said he saw them drop it, but you know those WDW bus drivers......

Never saw any emergancy units so, no one was hurt hopefully, just a big bulldozer thing scooping up shattered lumber and dry wall.

Can't wait to see them, that was my fav place to stay as a kid. Did you happen to take any pics of the new units? :)

these look pretty cool. they are also the cover story for the new disney files magazine...

We had a great view of the treehouses from our studio in the Grandstand last week. They look awesome. Now we'll just have to plan some kind of family gathering so we can justify using enough points to book one of them!

I also saw them from my Grandstand 2BR last week. Wish I had more time to get closer. I will definately book one for next fall if possible.

What are you doing over here George?! :rotfl2:

Someone, get some pictures! I loved the way they looked before, do they still look about the same?

I feel out of the loop. What are the treehouse villas? Are they going to be part of SSR? When do they open?

Does anyone have any recent pictrues??????:worship:

I've been asking...so I hope someone can take some. If not, my BIL/SIL just arrived at OKW today, and I'll ask them to walk over and take pics. Unfortunately, I won't get them until they return (next weekend). popcorn::

I took some yesterday, but I can't upload them 'til I get home--either later tonight or tommorrow. (They were working on them on a Saturday!) The ones we saw have siding on them now. Some were painted brown and they really blended in with the trees. A couple were painted a lighter color. I am assuming it is a primer coat.

DH saw a sign on the door to one of the Treehouses that said, "wipe your feet clean before entering" We were wondering if that meant they are starting to work on the interiors. :)

Here are pictures taken this past Tuesday from the boat from OKW to SSR:

Enjoy!!

Way to come through for us, Tinkerbellcrafter!!! :yay: I really wanted to see them, as I'm trying to decide where to book this summer for a few days after our VB stay! They look great, and appear to be coming along nicely! :thumbsup2

No problem...we were very excited to see them!! :-) I would definitely book them for part of your stay, if you can. The views will all be different so I am not sure if you can put in requests like water view, woods view, etc. They were putting one on the base when we drove by, so the ones nearest the road are being done last. I couldn't grab a picture of those because of fencing and traffic!!

I'm torn. DH really wants to stay at BCV for Stormalong Bay (never been to BCV before), and DS REALLY wants to stay in a treehouse. For this visit, we probably won't go to the parks much, as we'll be down for a week in April. DH thinks that BCV is a better choice for the pool and BW activity. DS, on the other hand, just thinks the THV are beyond cool (his words!).

Since I make the reservations, I guess it's truly my choice!!! ;) I'm leaning toward booking a treehouse, because how often will you get to stay in something brand new? After seeing your pics, it's almost a done deal in my mind (if I can get a reservation)!!! :rolleyes1

Thanks for the wonderful pics Tinkerbellcrafter! We're hoping to snag one for 2 nights after our Nov 09 cruise.
