Have a few questions about the treehouse villas at SSR
1. How far are they from the main lobby and pool?
2. Do they have their own bus and bus stops or are they are part of the ssr bus routes? And which stops number are they and anyone have long waits?
3.If you are at the villa and want to go into the main lobby area do you take a bus?
4. In the summer is there a bad bug problems?
5. How far of a walk to downtown disney?
Thanks

Hi. Here's a link to my trip report from last summer. Lots of pictures of the THV. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2249094

As to your questions: 1. If you look at a map of SSR, you'll notice that the THV section is rather large. So, there's a bit of a difference in how far the walk is, depending on where you are in the two loops.

We were in the South loop, which put us close to the walkway between the Grandstand section and the THV. Here's a video I shot of the walk from the THV to Grandstand. It took me 6 minutes, and was about 1/4 mile according to Google Earth. Getting to the Carriage House (the main lobby) is a little less than twice as far.

2. There is a separate bus that serves the THV. There are two stops within the THV loops, then the bus goes to the Springs stop at the main resort. You need to switch buses here to get to the parks and DTD. After 10 am, the bus also stops at the Grandstand bus stop. The route is THV North, THV South, Springs, Grandstand, repeat.

There is also a boat that goes between the THV, Carriage House, and Downtown Disney.

3. We actually did a variety of things, depending on the mood we were in. We rode the bus to and from the Springs several times when we wanted to go to Artist Pallet or the High Rock Springs Pool. We also walked it just as many times. The boat was also a nice change.

In the early morning when we were heading to a theme park, we'd usually walk to the Grandstand bus stop, and pick up the bus there. This was because the Springs was the last stop on the theme park bus routes, and we didn't want to take a chance that we'd have to stand. The Grandstand is the first stop on the theme park bus routes, so there'd always be seats when we got on there. Coming back from parks, we'd usually get off at Grandstand and walk back to the THV. This took less time than staying on the bus to Springs, and waiting for the transfer.

4. We packed gobs and gobs of bug-related items. Bug spray, off coils, bug bite cream. However, it really wasn't needed. We never experienced any problems with bugs.

5. The tree houses are actually closest to Downtown Disney's West End. There is a path that will get you there (the same one that leads to Old Key West). However, we noticed there's a "Cast Members Only" sign on the bridge. We guessed this was because the path isn't lighted at night.

You'll probably want to take the boat to get to DTD. The "official" path would be all the way through Grandstand, past the Carriage House, and through Congress Park to get there. I'd guess this is about a mile or so.
