Please, tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly about a stay in the Treehouse Villas for 8 adults/adult children and 1 baby the second week of December.

Thanks.

It's easier to stay here if you have a vehicle. Transportation was better than I expected though. The internal bus system for the tree houses runs very frequently. We rarely waited more than a few minutes. For 8 people, please realize there are only 2 bathrooms. Smething to think about. Not sure how you will do sleeping but while there are 3 bedrooms, one is a bunk bed room. The master has a queen bed, a full in the second (this room is quite small).
The living area as a pull out sofa and pull out sleeper chair.

The washer and dryer and the full kitchen are great. We enjoyed the deck and our own BBQ grill.

Honestly, I love the treehouse villas, but with the make up of your group, it most likely would not be a top choice.

We stayed at the THV in '09 with 4 adults and 2 kids. We loved it! Despite reading reviews that transportation was an issue, for us it was not. We were directly across from the THV pool so we just walked on the pathway to the bus stop - probably about a 10 minute walk but we always saw busses coming and going so I don't think it is an issue. I'm not sure what your adult to child ratio is but the previous poster gave you an idea of the layout. I'm sure with a lot of people it could get crowded, depending on sleeping arrangments. Feel free to ask any more questions. We really loved staying there. Were hoping to stay again in September but right now can't get in with our discount :(

2 are my single adult children. Also, my husband is a maybe, and, if he is able to come, it most likely would only be for a few days of the trip.

Still I'm torn for sure. What other options would you recommend? I've considered Beach Club villas, as well as booking 2 moderate rooms, booking 2 cabins at FW, or even booking 3 value rooms (or 2 value suites).

GOSH WHY IS THIS SO HARD?!?!?!

We'll be staying at the THV for the first time this October. Here's what drew me to them aside from the fact that they're über cool. :hippie:

The size. The decor. The 3 bedrooms. They have their own grills. And seriously, sleeping in a treehouse that Walt invisioined? Holy coolness!!! We won't have a car, I'm not worried. :thumbsup2 And the points for next year got reallocated and will cost more next year.

The only advice I can recommend is that you know your own family. How ok is everyone with sharing a bed? I would honestly consider 2 family suites or a family suite and one value room. But how important is a full kitchen and a washer and dryer to your group?

Rentayenta, your family will love the THV. We stayed in December and gave one up we had booked for this September for a villa at BLT. You won't have to deal with strollers and your children can climb up and down the stairs themselves and carry their own belongings. We will definately stay there again when the boys are a bit older or when we have grandparents along. Glad we own at SSR to have that 11 month booking option!

Eight adults and one child will be crowded in the THV. You are only allotted one parking space at the THV, so if you have multiple vehicles, only one can park there. The others will need to be parked at the Grandstand, about ten minutes away. The bunk bed room has bunks in it because a queen sized bed wouldn't fit. And I don't think a double would fit either. The bunks are standard sized bunks, so anyone taller than 5'8" would not be comfortable. And even that might be too tall.

You'd be much better off with multiple rooms or villas instead of trying to squeeze everyone into one two bedroom villa or a THV.

I think we are going to change the reservation to 3 rooms at POP for this trip, and plan to do 2 BC or AK villas for our 2014 trip (there will likely be at least one more grandchild by then). My dh said this trip needed to be more budget-friendly because I'm making 2 trips to Hawaii this year as well.

Anyway, with 3 rooms at POP, even though they are small, we should be comfortable. The price is right, and I think all will enjoy the food court and tacky, fun decor!
