I don't think I would call it "old" or "retro" styling. Let me put my own spin on the decor discussion. The Northern 1/3 of Wisconsin has thousands of cabins/cottages/lodges used for all sorts of activities from hunting to fishing to family vacations. When someone would buy a new couch for their primary residence, the old couch would get hauled "up north" (or "up nort", depending on which dialect you are speaking). Thus, the living rooms in these cabins were a mis-match of outdated furniture, drapes, carpet, etc. But it all fit together perfectly with the trees, the lakes, the rivers and the wildlife just outside the window.
Seeing these pictures, I think Disney hit it right on the head with the styling. And being DVC, I'm sure this furniture is very high quality. Aside from the new appliances and flat screen TVs, these villas are strikingly similar to the places that thousands of people all over the Midwest jaunt off to every other weekend when the walleyes are biting or they just want a little piece and quiet.
