First off, thanks Corey for such great pictures of the new Treehouse Villas! :thumbsup2 I have been waiting for so long to see what these were going to look like. However, is it just me, or does the decor in the Villas look like something from the 70's? I know it's all new stuff and it's supposed to look rustic, but it looks like stuff from my childhood home! I could be way off, but I guess I just expected something a little more...:confused3

can you point me in the direction of the pictures?
i'd love to see them (i stayed there eons ago)

Sure! On the main page, www.disboards.com, look in the box at the top w/ the most recent news. It's the first thing...Treehouse Villas Pictures, I think. Let me know if you can't find them and I'll try to give you a direct link. Corey got some great pictures! It'll be interesting to hear their thoughts on the podcast this week.

The furniture was comfortable. The sofa and chair in the living room fold out into beds.

Think retro, not old!

Although we may stay here for our 2010 trip to accomodate everyone for less DVC points, I think the interior, from all photos I have seen, look a bit "cheap."

I am certain we will get a great review from Pete though. I am excited for it :)

my sister is waited listed for our trip in nov. She could get all but 1 night of the trip. I constantly told her she had to be ready to call the minute booking opened, even the day before I warned her and she still forgot. :( I am still hoping she ends up getting it so I can go over and check her room.

The pictures are great and the treehouse villas look beautiful. But, I agree, I was a little disappointed with the furniture. I'm not sure what I thought it would look like but the livingroom furniture is not what I expected. I love the new appliances though.

I understand what you guys are saying. That retro period is still recent enough to not be automatically viewed as retro. I liked the subtle theme throughout. The round picture frames, the log tables, waterfall sink faucet, Fence board cabinet doors, etc.

Corey, how many of the villas had that nice of a view? the river view would be great!

I am not Corey but was there with him. There are quite a few of them with river views. I would have to look at my pictures to see what the number range for the river villas were.

I love the photos also. I am trying to figure out the right group of people to take with us if we want to stay there. I want to stay there so bad, but it is a waste for 3 people.

I did find it interesting that there was no cabinet below the sink. The pool looked nice. That is a lot more than I was expecting.

They are nice I think.
You guys did a great job taking the pictures for us to see.:thumbsup2
I would also like to stay here at some point in the future.
However it would be a waste with just the 4 of us right now.

Glad you like the photos!

We'll be talking about it more on the show today. The whole team went there yesterday to check them out, but Pete and Walter actually stayed there last night.

I don't think I would call it "old" or "retro" styling. Let me put my own spin on the decor discussion. The Northern 1/3 of Wisconsin has thousands of cabins/cottages/lodges used for all sorts of activities from hunting to fishing to family vacations. When someone would buy a new couch for their primary residence, the old couch would get hauled "up north" (or "up nort", depending on which dialect you are speaking). Thus, the living rooms in these cabins were a mis-match of outdated furniture, drapes, carpet, etc. But it all fit together perfectly with the trees, the lakes, the rivers and the wildlife just outside the window.
Seeing these pictures, I think Disney hit it right on the head with the styling. And being DVC, I'm sure this furniture is very high quality. Aside from the new appliances and flat screen TVs, these villas are strikingly similar to the places that thousands of people all over the Midwest jaunt off to every other weekend when the walleyes are biting or they just want a little piece and quiet.

I like this comment. I grew up in Minnesota and this is the way that the cabins up north were. I am excited to stay here. It looks like the quite pool is very nice with tables and a whirlpool. We just stayed at OKW and I would say that the relaxing atmosphere was a big highlight for us. It appears that you would get this at the Treehouses as well.

I want to see the handicap accessible rooms. How do you get up there?

This does explain it a little bit. Thank you! :thumbsup2

We had a handicapped accessible room. Corey posted the pictures of the room and ramp.

Thanks. My Mom always needs to have a scooter (ECV) and this ramp is awesome!

I am so happy that Disney considers this when building their rooms. :thumbsup2
