Treehouse Villas & Bus stop

the monorail does not go to the wilderness lodge, therefore the boat is an important issue to me and other very or slightly disabled. sorry, i realize that we are responsible for our own ablilities and disablilities but the boat would be really nice.

there is a bus now from Wl/vwl to the Mk. it goes directly to the mk.

before this bus would take guests to TTC (monrail)

bet you will be happy with BLT opens. You don't even need a bus to get to it - can walk - but the monrail will be fun (occasionally)

Actually the information I gave you was what a CM told me when I asked about the boat. In all fairness to him, I was going from MK to the Grand Floridian, so that doubtless is why he responded as he did. Frankly, I'm so used to Disney being "differently abled" friendly, it hadn't even occured to me that the boat would not be able to accomodate my scooter!

really don't think TH will get its own buses. but will probably share with SSR.
they are only putting in 2 stops.

DD pays for the PO boats. DVC members pay for the DD boats. we found out this - when DD stop paying for the PO boats - but the DVC boats still went.

members pay for everything at the DVC resorts - especially the transportation - boats and buses.

what DVC resort is bigger (area) than SSR? - OKW is not - SSR got bigger when grandstand was opened.

also think the maintence fees for this place will be high. So although might try to stay there - really glad DVC went with SSR instead of OKW. of course my opinion no longer counts - got rid of my OKW.

having blt monorail will be really nice and i do plan to enjoy it, but the walk (which some can do and some can not) will be nice for people who walk and if it is paved or smooth enough for wheel chairs and scooters.

i do realize that wl has buses that go to mk, but as i said the boat trip is a real pleasure and i still think it would be a good idea if wheel chairs and scooter riders could also have this pleasure. the boats for epcot/hollywood studios and downtown have boats that have handicap access. we would love it.

Two more stops is going to add...what...maybe 3-4 minutes to the loop each way? All of the buses already drive past the treehouse area entrance--soon they will just be making a detour in that area, too.

It literally took me 1 hour to get to Mk 1 night from Spring stop. But I did notice an improvement this december. It's 2-3 min. extra if there's no one getting on or off.

I think you're kinda co-mingling two separate issues, though: the total distance of the bus loop and the frequency of service.

My point is that the distance isn't getting much larger. All of the theme park buses already drive down Disney Vacation Club Way and right past the entrance to the treehouse "neighborhood." Diverting down that road and making a couple of stops isn't going to add more than 3-4 minutes to the route. There are only 60 villas so even when there are people getting off or on, the stops will be brief.

As for the frequency of service--the amount of time between buses--adding the treehouses really shouldn't have any impact on that. Yes, this is another handful of rooms being added to the SSR bus loop, but it's still servicing under 1000 rooms. Pop Century alone has something like 3000 rooms. The BoardWalk / Swan / Dolphin loop services well over 1000 rooms.

If there are issues with the SSR buses not coming often enough or being overcrowded, that's a completely separate issue and should be addressed independently of whether 60 treehouse villas are part of the route or not.

Exactly. I did not mention the fact that it took me an hour or more bus ride during my visit was that tthere were 2 disabled guests stops ( different stops) that had to be made. The ride from granstand to congress took literally 1/2 hour.
Don't get me wrong, I love the SSR and it's a beautiful resort unlike hotels, very relaxing. But during my 2 recent vacation at SSR, I've average over 3 hours a day just on waiting and riding the bus between SSR and theme parks- (my 3 yr old needs his naps). Imo, it's too much time spent for buses. THis is one of the reason i'm looking to exchange for BLT.

These are going to be practically drive-thru bus stops. There will rarely be more than 1 or 2 families waiting to board any given bus. And on the drop-offs, drivers will either ask if anyone on board will be departing at a THV stop, or just pause briefly to see if anyone gets up to leave.

Bottom line is Disney isn't going to run separate loops for 60 villas and I don't see them splitting up SSR either. I don't see the THV detour adding more than a couple of minutes to any given bus trip. JMHO.

Don't worry by the time the Treehouse guests hike to the main building, breakfast will be over. Sorry could not resist, but I know how so many complained about the location of Carousel being soooo far away, it is nothing compared to the Treehouses.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that there was an entrace to the THs from the main road(between OKW and the main SSR entrance). If this is the case, the busses could actually enter there and hit the THVs FIRST. Wouldn't THAT be an awesome thing?!

I agree! When the inevitable "it was such a looooooooooooong walk to our treehouse!!!" threads inevitably appear, I'm not going to have a whole lot of sympathy.

No. No plans for golf cart rentals.

I don't know how things were handled in the old Disney Institute days when they did offer rentals, but I think there is just too much foot & bus traffic at the resort now to add golf carts to the public sidewalks and roads. There may be some roadways / paths were were not built with cart traffic in mind. Could really damage the landscaping with reckless guests veering off the paths to avoid those on foot. And cart parking would be an issue, too.

yup, i always drive to WDW- If i don't feel like walking, we usually just take our car to DTD - takes 5-10 min. compare to our last bus ride (took 1/2 hr ).

Yes, but the point is a stop is a stop, regardless if it is 2 guests or not. Plus, my history with Disney Bus Transportation, they will not skip a stop just because someone is not getting off, they will still go and stop and wait a minute or two.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that THV will create a major problem, but it will be two additional stops in a resort with what some could argue is too many stops to begin with.

As far as SSR busses are concerned, I do think they need to think outside of the box. During the non-peak times there isn't much of an issue, but that morning rush and evening rush can cause quite a problem. Maybe seperate loops will work to SSR's advantage, or maybe they will do something else. While they have worked well to alleviate many of the complaints, my trip in Nov at Grandstand had a bus exactly every 15 minutes, but I would hear the people from Congress Park and Springs complaining of longer waits, which is a result of traffic in SSR, long boarding times and full busses.

We are new DVC members (just closed yesterday). I'm not going to trivialize others feelings. I just want to say that I am looking forward to the bus service at the DVC resorts. After waiting in incredible lines to and from the All Star resorts for more than 45 minutes, I will not complain. Just happy to be here.
