We plan to go the last week of October for a variety of reasons We can now as both kids are done with College, new Grand Baby, Food and Wine at Epcot and Swan/Dolphin..........

We love OKW GV and have a reservation for 5 days, but, the Treehouse will give us 6 vs. 5 days.

The only concern we have is the Parking as we will be driving 2 or 3 cars down from Atlanta. Member services confirmed for me today One and only one.

My wife asked to reach out on a few topics - I think we can deal with it, but, promised my wife I would reach out to the board:

1) Is the One car rule a hard and fast rule?
2) How inconvenient are the Transportation Options at the THV?
3) If you love OKW GV - how does it compare?
4) I need to read up on the Swan / Dolphin Food and Wine. Is there a FAQ thread on that?

Thanks all.

Yes, one car and one car only can be parked at the treehouse. There simply isn't enough room for multiple cars at the treehouseses. The walk to the Grandstand is not very long and we parked the extra car there. We never used the internal bus as we always walked over to Grandstand to get the SSR bus.

You can park the additional cars at Grandstand. It's only one parking spot per treehouse. There's a thread for Swan Dolphin on the resorts board and maybe there's been discussion there about the event. The internal treehouse bus runs very regularly but and will tack on an extra 5 minutes ride plus your wait but it seemed pretty consistent at 20 minutes or so between buses. That takes you directly to the Springs stop to catch the theme park buses.

Thank you very much! My wife loves OKW! My son and daughter and I had to apply the triple team to get her to agree to trying something new! Hey, we may not like it, but, we may love it - you have to try.

The parking seems a bit inconvenient, but, we will adapt and overcome.

Everyone is very much looking to Food and Wine at both Epcot and Swan/Dolphin.

THV seems remote and well, empty. Never really see anyone and the pool is not being used when we are there.

I think you have a great point Bill! But, that is something we love about OKW - I will substitute your Remote and Empty and insert Solitude and Serenity. Our first stay at DVC involved two days at OKW, two at BCV and two at Vero. After two days at BCV listening to our neighbors arguing loudly and the sounds every time the Cabinets opened and closed I said: "I stay at better Hotels then this when I travel!"

As a family, we are very outgoing folks that love meeting new people. Bill, my family would be the first Family to start chatting you up in the Queue for Soaring.

Vacation is our time though - we value our time at DVC as a group. This is why I dismiss the entire Cost / Benefit discussions regarding DVC - you love it or you don't. My wife and kids may go to 2 or 3 parks during our stay. I will probably go to Epcot and call it a week (but will go to Disney Springs, Fireworks at Contemporary Villa and the Swan Dolphin gig). We will do a "Resort Hoping" day. For me, DVC is a resort destination

Remote and Empty or Solitude and Serenity do not work for everyone, but, it is something we have come to cherish as a family.

The Treehouse will be less square footage than the OKW GV and it's queen beds in both the master and the second bedroom and bunk beds in the 3rd. As long as that all works out we thought our stay there was great. Would have liked a king in the master though and it would be nice to have long twin bunk beds that could be used comfortably by adults but that need will vary with your group.

Yep! One of the best things about it!!!

We will have 6 Adults and one Baby. Orlando based friends may join us for a day or two and crash there.

A 2BR would be cramped - a OKW GV overkill. That is why we came up with the THV Concept.

And 2 of the adults are short? lol

For haha's I tried the bunk bed. It's not long - I'm 5'5 and my feet would touch the end unless I scrunched up towards the headboard. Not uncomfortable but no stretching out.

Not sure my wife agree's, but, my thought is my Daughter, her Husband and the Baby get the Master.

My son is a 6 footer and his gf is tiny. So, they can opt for the Bunk Beds or do the Couch. Not sure I want to give them too much room in the same bed - that is why I am a grandfather!

One car rule a hard and fast rule?
They gave us a parking pass for on vehicle, but they certainly weren't enforcing parking. We had to park so far away from our villa on several occasions, it really drove us bananas.

2) How inconvenient are the Transportation Options at the THV?

As long as you are all able bodied walkers you will be just fine. Our tree house was a 7 minute walk from the Grand Stands. As adults the walk was fine, but it killed my six year old. We found the intra-SSR busses more time consuming and aggravating than they were worth. The walk to the Grandstand bus stop is definitely the way to go.

Just stayed at the treehouse in January (one at AKL and BLT) and honestly were not impressed. Villas was dark and even though there were only 4 of us it felt cramped in the non-bedroom areas. I would definitely go grand villa - but we like our space.

Personally I think there is more space in a 2 bedroom than a treehouse. It only has two good bedrooms the third is really only suitable
For kids under 10

We have a group with us a couple years ago and stayed at the AKL in the 2 bedrooms with the three baths and it was wonderful. The amount of space we had was great. And the extra bath was very helpful. I know it isn't one you mentioned, but I thought I would mention it. Have a wonderful trip!

The one car is NOT guaranteed BTW. We could not get a space any of the days we were there last March. It was a royal PITA.
