The last time we were at AK, we saw a lady who looked like and moved like a vine wrapped around a tree. She was really cool.;) We could have stood there watching her for quite awhile but my nephew was scared to death of her (she's not scary...he's scared of EVERYTHING). Does anyone know what they really call her (I call her the Tree Lady) and if she's always around AK?

yep it's Devine. She is very cool :cool1:

It took me 4 trips to get some photos of her:thumbsup2

Wow, that's pretty cool. We're going in July, I hope we get to get some pics. Is she out at certain times and certain places?

There is a thread in the "Resorts" section of DIS if you want to check for more information.

I saw her too! Her name is DeVine. She doesn't have any real times that she is in certain places, however look for her in the more wooded areas of AK.

PS: I think she is also at AKL sometimes!

Devine is great and worth taking the time to check out. I know there is a site that has a schedule for her, but I don't know what it is. Maybe someone else can provide that.

I've always seen it as DeVine as far as Disney is concerned...it's in several of my books too

My daughter actually can't wait to see her. We took pictures of her last time we were there and that's all she talks about is "when am I going to see the tree lady" she'd rather see her than Mickey :lmao:

just trying to clear up a popular myth. people think it's De as in The Vine.

allearsnet is not a disney owned resource. neither are most of those books i'm sure you're referring to (she's actually an outside contractor, so i'd be amazed if disney mentions her anywhere).

but you decide. her homepage says DiVine and this Orlando Sentinel article agrees.

silly thing to fight over tho, I think.

I wasn't in any way fighting. I should have reworded...it was the fact that you were right becasue I went to that website you posted and I was simply saying some Disney sites/books spell it differently. And I'm obviuosly not the only one who has seen it spelled that way...look at the posts above. Oh well, I think she's awesome either way!!!

gotcha. well, i'm here to start the revolution.

The last time we were in AK, we checked for her perfomance schedule at Guest Services. The first guy we asked had no clue what I was talking about! Fortunately, there was another gal in the office who looked it up and gave us the times. Of course, you can always get the times from the previous posts to this thread, but just in case you forget...there's always GS near the entrance to the park.

Now that we're on the same page :thumbsup2 that's a great pic. I wish I had mine on my computer. I got a great shot of her just as she was turning her head up. Maybe I'll get some good ones next trip!

also, and this goes for every park, every CM is supposed to have something called a tell-a-cast on them (in disneyland, it's simply the reference guide). this gives them the schedules for EVERYTHING in the park that week (that has a schedule). it includes restaurant hours and non-published entertainment schedules for example. sometimes the CM may be hesitant to check it in front of a guest, but if you let them know that you know they have it, they have nowhere to hide.

but her schedule is pretty rigid if you check steve soares. top of the hour for many morning/early afternoon hours for 45 minute sets. i didn't even check the site for that, so see if I'm right. the hardest part is finding her. while she has a CM with her, steve's site doesn't really mention that she's on the path between asia and africa

I remember the first time i saw her on my first trip to AK in 03. She was against the wall where the bathrooms are in... asia? Forgive me its been a while since ive been. Anyway, we thought it was real vines... then she crossed the path into the trees and my whole family's jaws dropped. What an amazing experience.

We were walking right past her (along with others) because she was in an area with trees and all of a sudden we saw people stopping and looking at something. She started walking and to watch her movements is just amazing. She moved like a vine wrapped around a tree!

She moves very fast, too. I found it hard to try and get a photo because she didn't stay in one place or one position for very long.

We saw her on our last trip on the walkway between Asia and Africa. We would not have noticed her if there hadn't been a small group of people standing and watching her. When we saw her she was moving slowly and gradually and then almost "melted" into the vines and plants around.
