We’ve gotten some basic first reports from cast members that the Tree of Life icon at the Animal Kingdom park at the Walt Disney World Resort had some sort of damage or incident last night reportedly involving one of the smaller branches falling off the tree itself. While Disney investigates – as it’s not a real tree, but a massive metal structure – the It’s Tough to Be a Bug attraction and Tree of Life walkways are closed until further notice

Will update when more details are known about what's going on or what exactly happened.

Gonna be a major bummer to miss that if it's not back up before our trip in June :(

we went yesterday to celebrate Earth Day and the entire area was closed, trails and It's Tough to be a Bug, when I asked a CM she said that the Tree itself is a lightning rod and had some damage from the storms during Saturday night.

What a bummer! We arrive on Friday...hope they have it fixed quickly!

What?!?! OH no. :( DD really wanted to see Tough to be a bug on our trip. We were even going on her birthday! I am so sad. I am assuming there is no way it will be up and running in 23 days. No TT, no BTMR, and now no Tough to be a bug. :headache: Hope no one was hurt though.

woah if that is true (that a limb really fell off part), thats a big problem, that sucker is made of steel. Something that major could take a while to make sure it won't happen again.

Oh no! I hope it's fixed before we get there. :( I'm glad nobody was injured!

So true. Lots of mass to check and evaluate, so many individual pieces that guests are exposed to.

I'm sure if there are issues with branches falling they can build some sort of cover and an alternative queue that doesn't go near the tree for Tough to be a bug.

Wow, I hope they can get it repaired before our trip in June. :sad1: What a blessing that no one was hurt.

The Tree of Life area is one of my favorite parts in all of WDW. Hope they get that fixed soon and I'm glad no one was injured in the incident!

Well that's just wonderful... BTMRR, Test Track and now the Tree of Life... just waiting to hear that Toy Story Mania is down as well... I wish I could reschedule our trip in 11 days.

Dont forget Big Thunder Mountain is closed too. So bummed my favorite ride at ECOT and MK are both closed and now my husband's favorite AK ride is down. Some how we will still manage to have fun :rotfl:
