We are traveling to Aulani in June with friends. The friends' DD 16 has just been diagnosed with a tree nut allergy. We both have 1 BR's and were planning on some cooking, but need some advice for eating out. Yes, I know that the restaurants at Aulani are allergy friendly, but I am interested in options outside the resort. Monkeypod comes pretty highly recommended for allergy friendliness, for example, but many of the others on allergyeats.com are in the Ama Ama or Roy's price range and too rich for our blood to eat more than 1 meal there on this trip. I have heard that many people appreciate the consistency and allergy policies of chain restaurants. Obviously, this girl's safety is the most important thing, but it would be nice to have some local options that are reasonably priced (in a Disney/Hawaii sort of way.) Something near Pearl Harbor or on the North Shore would be an additional bonus. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yes, we will have a car, which helps. Looks like it might be best for our friends to call some of these restaurants directly and inquire about their policies. While we don't necessarily want to travel 9 hours by plane to eat at a chain we can eat at at home, the local chains seem to be more organized in terms of allergy policies, and that might be a good compromise.
