Tree House Villas

We loved the THV this past July. While the square footage is less than other resorts, the three bedrooms and vaulted ceiling make it seem spacious. The ceiling and shady surroundings make it very cool - and we were there in a very hot July.

We had a good location - right by a bus stop and a short walk to the boat. We did have a car, but when we used the bus we had no issues. Maybe just lucky (perhaps to make up for the unlucky times we've had on other stays!)

It is great for smokers (like my parents) as each unit has its own "smoking area." Also, the private BBQ grill was great as we did a couple of meals there.

We just enjoyed about everything about the THV.

Glad to hear these reports!!! Dave, I read your whole TR, and LOVED it!! I can't wait!! A week and a half to go!!! :) Still gotta finish packing, plan the food, and get the family down here....then one night at our house, then SWW!!!! :) WOOHOO!!!

Thinking of taking brother, sis-in-law and nephew to THV for their first visit to WDW. After reading these posts not sure it is "Disneyish" enough. Do you think it will give first times the "real" Disney feel we all love so much?

It really depends on what you are looking for or comparing it to. I think the most "disneyish" resorts would be the monorail resorts. It is the iconic image most people think of...so in that sense, BLT with a Magic Kingdom view would be that top of the line room. If you compare it to any of the moderates, etc....I think they are much more luxurious and would most likely surprise them. The THV's are such a unique villa, it can't be compared to another and I think most people would love to stay in them (understanding that they might have some additional time in their walk, but only a couple minutes....while they feel they are in the middle of nowhere, they are actually still pretty close to the main resort).

How far a walk would you estimate it to be to the main pool (thinking of the pool near Artists Palete)?

Also, when you check in to theTHV's do you check in at the main building, the one everyone else would check in at? If so, do they have a shuttle or some way to get you and your luggage over to the THV's?

Thanks,

Karen

I mapped it out on Google, and it looks like from the furthest treehouse to the main pool is about .6 miles (and about .25 from the closest). Note that there is a small pool in the THV area itself.

You check in at the same place as the other SSR rooms. They do have carts for Bell Services to drive your bags over. Not sure if they can take you - but do realize there is a bus between the main SSR and the THV stops. This bus just circulates all day, so it is pretty frequent.

I would say about a 10-12 minute walk from the villa's near the south bus stop and maybe 14-17 minutes from the furthest.....that is to the main area. If you just want to get to the Grandstand pool/bus stop it is probably about 6-8 minutes and add another 4 minutes or so from the north part of THV's....obviously this is dependent on how fast you walk. If you luck out and are right near or on the path to grandstand, you can cut that down even further. Those villas are about the same distance as the furthest grandstand building. If we were just going to swim, etc we did use the internal shuttle which ran every ten minutes and took you straight to the springs.

You do check in at the main building and they will take you over in the golf carts that the bell services use. If you used ME it is not an issue. Also, while we were at THV's, all the employees were super nice that were going through, offering us rides and we had one of the maintenance guys bring the groceries to the villa on his cart (we were one of the villas on the path to grandstand, so set back a decent ways from the road).

We have been SSR owners for 5 years now. We have gone home give or take 6 times since. We were fortunate enought last November to stay in the THVs both pre and post cruise. We absolutely loved it! I did not find that there was a long wait for the bus. We were, however in one of the last ones so the walk was a bit long to the main building. We were able to book for this November again pre and post cruise and can't wait! :woohoo:

Thank you all for the fast replies and the helpful info. :)

We own at SSR and have stayed in both the THV and in the main resort. The THV are so unique and we loved them. We stayed in them with some friends of ours making it two families of four and we were not cramped at all. We did have a car which I would recommend but we also used the busses but walked to the stops in the main resort instead of waiting on the THV busses. We've stayed at almost all of the resorts on property and each of them have their own high points. I would say that the THV stand apart because of the size, the point value based on getting a 3 bdrm at the price of a 2 bdrm and the surroundings. From what I've seen they are very popular and somewhat hard to get at 7 months.
