Thinking of booking there. We only stayed at SSR once so I am not that familiar with it. How far away are the treehouses from the main building with the restaurants? Is there a separate pool? How are the buses for the treehouses?

Here's a link to photos of the THVs here on the DisBoards: http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/showgallery.php/cat/952/page/1

I have read that each THV has parking for only one vehicle for each villa. Those with two vehicles are asked to park one in The Grandstand area and either walk or take the internal shuttle bus back to their villa. Problems occur when a neighboring THV guest decides to use the parking for your villa.

This link shows the maps for SSR and the THVs for you to visualize where they are located from the main resort. http://dvcnews.com/index.php/resorts/saratoga-springs/maps-a-photos

It a least a 30 minute walk but waiting for the bus can take that long.

There is a small basic pool.

they have their own pool, it is nice and quiet and we were right across from it, fantastic location.

There aren't assigned parking spaces for each tree house. It's all general parking. You are correct that the front desk asks guests to park their second vehicle in the Grandstand section, and I think most people generally respect this.

Keep in mind that while many people have cars, many others rely on Disney transportation. We've been there during several very busy seasons and never had any problem finding a spot near our tree house.

Check out FAQ #3b and 9 in this post.

We also requested a villa near the walkway to the Grandstand which is also near the South bus stop. We walked to the Grandstand (7 minutes) for the bus or the Springs (10 minutes) for food or the pool several times a day. It's a nice walk and is well lit at night. My DH used the internal buses to get to the main resort as he has some mobility and respiratory issues, but luckily the rest of us are in good shape and enjoyed the walks.:)

Here's a link to my trip report from a few years ago which listed walking distances:

We were in the middle of the treehouse area and it was only 8-9 minutes walk to the Grandstand pool. Carriage House which includes the front desk, restaurants and the High Rock Spring pool is about 2 minutes further.

So if you're at one of the furthest Treehouses, the walk to the Carriage House should be no more than 15 minutes. From one of the closest units, it's only 7-8 minutes.

We had no transportation issues and never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. The walk from the SSR stop to our THV was also 10 minutes max and that's just at a normal pace. The THV are amazing! The second link in my siggy has THV info in my report. We didn't use the THV pool but there is one. We really enjoyed the High Rock Springs Pool.

If you can get one, do it. :thumbsup2

We were in a THV that was on the south end by the THV pool. The walk was slightly over 1/2 miles (.56) from there all the way in to the food service area of the Carriage House and it took me 9 1/2 minutes. I also timed the boat run - from boat departing Carriage house to the time we arrived at our THV which was also very close to the dock and that took 9 minutes. The internal bus ran by very consistently and frequently.
