Treatment for mild acne?

My 13 yo daughter is just beginning to break out a little. I would like to know what the best over-the-counter remedy is. Any recommendations?

ProActiv - I use and I'm 41. It's the best stuff I have ever used. My 13 year old ds uses it as well.

I use Acne Free. It is easier to buy than Pro-Active because you can get it just about everywhere (drugstores, Walmart, Target) and you can buy the products individually or bundled together.

I am curious about the Proactiv. There was an insert in my monthly bookclub mailing for a special offer: a 30-day kit for $19.95. Of course, I would then be enrolled in the club and receive a 60-day kit every 2 months with the $19.95/month price locked in - so I guess the 60-day supply would be $39.90.

Is this a good deal? Also, can you buy it in stores? Thanks!

I did this for a while. For me it was a pain in the fanny. There are three products (maybe four now) included in the package. I never ran out of two of them and only needed the cleanser so I ended up buying a LOT of stuff I didn't need. I don't know if it is available in stores now. When I used it you had to order it or be in the "club".

Our mall sells Pro-active at a kiosk, you can buy the products separately and you do not have to enroll.
I do not like the automatic shipments, I use my products so sparingly they last me months. I just buy what I need, when I need it.

You can change your kit up to get what you need.

I use more of the scrub right now I am getting 2 scrubs and 1 toner. In a month or so, I will get 1 scrub, 1 toner, and 1 treatment lotion. Then I 'll go back to getting 2 scrubs and 1 toner.

I also think I have mine set for every 3 months.

They also sell it at the local mall here, but I just like the convenience of having it shipped to my home.

That is what I do for my daughter. I bought her the starter pack and now buy for her whatever item she needs in a slightly bigger size. Starter pack items are tiny. They are available at the kiosk in our local mall. I don't like to enroll in anything either.

I like this idea. That way I can see if she likes it without committing to any club. I don't recall seeing Proactiv at any of our mall kiosks, but I'll check it out. Do you remember how long the starter kit lasted for her? Thanks!

Don't remember exactly but at least two months or less before I had to pick up the mask (I think it was the mask) and just the other day she said she might need the toner soon. She won't needed yet - she really cannot judge - the toner is liquid - a drop on a cotton ball and it can last for a while. It's hard to say depends on how much acne they have and if they use it consistently -
I think it's lasted for the money I spent.

Definitely ProActiv. Our family has used a million and one products over the years and NOTHING worked like ProActiv.

We have a proactiv vending machine in the mall. I love it because I can buy just the peices I want and it's very cost efective.

You can buy it without joining the club. Just tell them when you call that you want one kit. It will last much longer than they say it does and then you are not enrolled in anything. I have done it this way before. Like I said before, our mall has a ProActiv vending machine so yes, it IS available in other ways than calling them and ordering.

DD also had mild acne. She didn't care for the Proactiv for some reason. She used a Clearasil or Clean and Clear face wash and ointment. She's 17 now and only gets mild monthly breakouts and then she gets out the Clearasil or Clean & Clear. She's now up to where she has to buy stuff like that from her allowance or her paycheck so she is very attentive to price. I seem to recall that the Proactiv was petty pricey.
