Treasure Missing Lookout Cay Not An Issue Anymore

I hadn’t realized that my December Fantasy Merrytime Cruise is also going to LP, so, we will be going to LP twice this year.

We have HA staterooms, so, I am hoping I will have access to transport across the pier. However, I will be OK with staying onboard and using the pool. Another choice I have is to rent an ECV, to be sure I get to see the new island once.

We also have a Treasure cruise in January, and yes, I am just as happy, we are not going to LP then.
Yes you would be taken to the island in a golf cart

Would a 7 year old agree that the walk isn't bad?
I think most would be fine, but some wouldn’t. I thought it looked far but I just looked up how far we walked at Nassau to a beach with my kids in swim gear at ages 9 and 6 and it was 1.1 miles one way. They complained a bit on the at back but not on the way there.

It does look very blah. Disney completely shot themselves in the foot not buying the MSC island back in the day (which MSC actually owns doesnt rent now).

The crazy thing is that there seemingly is nothing special. That being said people LOVED castaway and that is very blah as well honestly. If I want to sit on a beach as the only entertainment option I will go to an all inclusive in the Caribbean or something.

Its done seemingly but for the money people pay for these cruises there needs to be a new level raised.

They offer some excursions. It actually an Island where people live and it does have some history.

This actually makes it a little more interesting for me. It would be nice to have a morning excursion and then come back and be able to relax on the beach right there for awhile before heading back to the ship.

I have a fall cruise booked visiting both islands and I have to agree, I was underwhelmed after watching a few Youtube videos on the first cruise to Lookout Cay. I am cruising with some first-timers and have hyped CC to them. At this point I don't plan to sell LC too hard to them. The beach and ocean were definitely top notch but everything else was a little lackluster for me. I'm hoping they change a bit over time. I know there are a few in my party that will not want to do that walk from the ship (though I think it may look worse than it is) then the additional trek to Serenity Bay.

I'm looking forward to more reviews from future cruises to see what it's looking like when it's fully up and running.
We have a fall cruise booked as well. Those flies on the food literally make me feel ill. I pray it is addressed.

We spent all day at WDW when my kids were that age. They would have ran the whole bridge. They were full of energy. Have kids changed that much?
Mine has. When she was young she could do 10-13 miles with me at Disney World no problem. Now she has EDS and we had to get a wheelchair for her at Disneyland last weekend. Not every child is always able bodied. Some days she's fine and some days she's not. So while she may be okay for the walk out, it's possible that by the end of the day she won't be okay and we'll be stuck.

Castaway is not as bland as this is…the snorkeling, Disney touches, island decor and overall theming is awesome.

Bland buildings with print out signs with little to no Disney touches is so insulting and the cheerleaders defending this low effort

This is getting absurd. I obviously wasn't referring to a child with a disability and I think you know that. I'm sure Disney will provide you with whatever help you need.

Mags2022 it seems you might know this answer. Can anyone who needs a ride ask for a gold cart ride for the pier? Or do you need to be in an accessible room etc. Most of my family can walk. However we are cruising because of my father, who will be turning 79 on the cruise. He has bad knees and should not walk that far. If we walked the pier he would be unable to walk for a few days. He is a stubborn old man and will not ask for help. So can he ask for a golf cart? Does he need to show anything to get one? I know it's new and they might not have figured out all the things. Just thought I would ask. Thanks for any insight that you might have.

Originally it was for HA rooms only but as far as I am aware if you have medical/mobility needs and explain this then they will accommodate that person but not the entire party

I’m not an expert, but I can’t imagine with all those flies they would pass health inspections. The island is one thing, but the Fantasy being infected with flies is really bad. Bad optics for the cruise line.
This is why I'm inclined to believe they weren't aware it was going to be such a big issue.

Hopefully they are able to fix the problem. I'm wondering if the flies will not be as big of an issue once the beach has been "open" for a bit? Maybe they're really excited about Disney. :D

Related, I've been on a ship that was infested with ladybugs (in Warnemunde, Germany) and there were bees around the soda station while the Magic was in port on my last cruise. Bugs are a menace that cannot always be prepared for. 😬

Lookout point made me want to book a cruise, and I did.

Stopping at lookout point and castaway cay

I'll take LP over Nassau anyday and twice on sunday

It's a preview. Things will get better and the beach looks incredible. That is all I care about
I agree. I think it will get better. I wouldn't cancel based on the first cruise I hated the Wish, but I've decided to give it another shot. I'm all about second chances. I booked brunch for Nassau day so that solves the Nassau problem. I'm looking forward to trying LP next year.
