which is in Clearwater Beach. It also mentions the Radisson Sand Key, Holiday Inn Sunspree, but I like the Bilmar Beach Resort on Treasure Island. It is just off the causeway, has a nice little restaurant, beautiful (but very wide) beach. Most of the rooms overlook the beach. We always opted to pay a little more for the kitchenette.
The hotel is a little older, but has always been clean. It is rated in AAA. I haven't stayed there in about 5 years, since we moved to Florida, but all the guests from a family wedding stayed there and all enjoyed it.
If you want off the beach (5-10 minute drive), we've stayed at the Hampton Inn. They have very nice rooms, great breakfast and the pool was very warm. They also have a cold wading pool with a water fall. The Hotel is one of the top-ranked Hampton Inns in Florida (were there 28 months ago). Prices are probably better then the beach.
Myself I am only a fan of Beaches that are private Hotel beaches, where you have an all-inclusive package and drinks by your side, under an umbrella in a chaise. Otherwise 2 hours is plenty.
We have stayed 2x at the Hilton Clearwater Beach. It has its own private beach. It has a pool and is pretty nice inside. The first time we stayed there was in 1996. It was a Doubletree then. Last time was in 1999 and it had changed to a Hilton and been renovated. It was a great location.
