Treasure Hunters??

Finally watched it last night. GO AIR FORCE!!

Man I'd love to be on this show!! :)

Well, I'm happy with who won, won't say cause I don't want to spoil it but all three were worthy. Love it the Robots are replicating ;)

Oops. I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

I really enjoyed this season and I HOPE they bring it back for another hunt. I'm happy with who won and I figured they would win an amount that could be evenly split between the team. I just don't like Laird...he has no personality at all...give me Phil any day! :teeth:

Darn, I missed it. But I saw the last few minutes and know who won.

What were the 5 letters that unlocked the capsule and how did he come about it?

FSKEY for Francis Scott Key. He woke up from a nap and guessed it.

I was pleased that the Geniuses won. I had figured out the right answer about five minutes before Francis got it. My DD looked at me funny and announced that she was not going to be my witness to anything.

I can't believe he woke up with the answer like that---it was kinda cool. I would love to be on the show. Love the AR too, but this calls for much more brains and real problem solving making it much more intriguing. The $100,000 winner seemed worthy too although I can't believe they brought 10 people to DC for a pretty lame hunt. :confused3

I was wishing for a different winner, but this team really earned it so WAY To GO!! And I liked thatn they had definate dreams they were able to fulfill. :happytv:

I agree with whoever said that they don't like the MC (Forgot his name)--he has no personality and seemed even irritable at the LIVE show. Bring us Phil or Anderson Cooper :lovestruc

BArf...I am really bummed out that Air Force didn't win. HECK, I would've preferred the Southies to win over the "Geniuses". The Geniuses whined, pitched and moaned the whole time and literally stumbled into the top 3. Then Francis literally stumbles onto the answer for the cryptex. It was such a let down, for me anyway. The reunion show was lame-ola. The audio was terrible in that large echo-filled room and Laird is the worst tv host I've ever seen.

That said, I will still tune in next season if there is one. The show was a hoot to watch.

I was hoping that Air Force would win, but Geniuses certainly deserved it after figuring that out. They were in there such a long time that I was watching it thinking "I wonder if they let them out and them back in to go to the bathroom?"

I wondered the same thing :rotfl2:

I totally agree with you!!

The audio was terrible last night! And why did they keep the Geniuses separated from the other participants and then Laird was trying to rush them when everyone wanted to congratulate them.

There really was no reason to have a "live" reunion show. They should have recorded it earlier so they could edit it.

Do you think there is a chance they will replace Laird? I'm guessing not because his voice is so memorable for all the clues. Next year I would love to see a guest host for the finale.

I really enjoyed the ending. Though the geniuses weren't my top team (I wanted Air Force to win), I am so glad to see brains win one of these games. And glad that they did have definite dreams and goals in life that their winnings would allow.

I was floored when they showed us exactly how long everyone was in there. I thought it was 2-3 hours, but at the reunion they showed the Geniuses arrive at 10pm and they didn't solve it until 8am. Wow.

One thing I found interesting is that no one thought of pushing on the lone star. We've seen from other parts of the hunt that you could jump over clues if you figured out how.

I was disappointed in the reunion, but I'll be back next season!

I missed the last few minutes of the show. How much was the treasure that they Geniuses won???

3 million

Can there be a next season? They can’t very well use the same plot next time (America’s founding father’s hiding treasure somewhere, etc.), and I can’t think off hand of another plot that would work for that type of show for a primarily American audience. I love the concept behind it, but I’m not sure that it is repeatable.

The Amazing Race doesn’t have a plot to worry about and can thus be repeated. Treasure Hunters needs a gimmick, a hook. If they do another one, it will have to be based upon a different treasure, and probably from a different country. Perhaps Napoleon’s generals hid a treasure after losing the battle of Waterloo and you could do a similar show set entirely in Europe. I’d surely watch that show as I am a complete Europhile. :thumbsup2 It would be easy to include multiple countries, but a heck of a lot more expensive to produce and manage, and therefore probably cost prohibitive unless the ratings for the current season were a lot higher than I imagine they were. Shows that require abstract thought generally do not perform well (except for Frasier – I’m still scratching my head over how that one survived for so many years and yet a show like Wonderfalls could be cancelled after only 4 weeks! :sad2: )

Maybe there is a treasure hidden that has to do with the Civil War? I'm thinking that someone had hidden a treasure associated with the underground railroad, maybe?

Or maybe Billy the Kid or Jesse James had hidden their treasures somewhere for the contestents to find?

Or, a stash of precious metals from WWI? Or, pirate treasure in the Gulf of Mexico?

There are other American historical events that a creative mind could plant a treasure to have people hunt for it. I think the American Revolution was an easy start because of the movie National Treasure.

I agree. I think there are lots of US historical events that could result in hidden treasure that some creative genius could come up with. I hope they do another one. They need an MC with personality, but other than that, great show :happytv:
