But the big question is for how long

I will take the positive side on this, many many families did this quest and the broken hearts of many parents having to tell there kids they did not make it. So this way the families can share the loot all of it.

Yes I know many may use it for mules. Can not stop that. I for one keep
forgetting to use mine

So keep the treausure detector in the family that way if it becomes untradeable again. You can still take turns.

What I suggested when it was not tradeable let the person use it and what ever they get they trade to the person in family without one.
Everyone wins this way.

Taking turns example:

10:05 owner of magic
11:05 Family member
12:05 the owner of the magic
rinse and repeat.

if it is the family members time and credits are won. The family member makes a list of buyables for the owner of magic to buy and trade back to.

See it can work either way. Though tradeable works the best.
