I bought a ProForm Treadmill from Sears back in November, and then didn't use it. It was right before our WDW trip, then it was Christmas, yada yada yada (excuses, excuses...I know). When I finally got on it, it slowed down and sped up unexpectedly. On day 89 of my 90 day warranty, I called Sears, and to make a long story short, a technician has come here TWICE, and it's still not right, and ANOTHER one is coming on Monday. Tried using it today, setting it to walk at a speed of 4.0, and it varied from 3.5 to 4.7! I can't DO walking at 4.7, and besides that, I don't WANT to!

Both technicians told me that it would vary a few tenths of a mile (but agreed this difference was too much)...but why should it? I had an old treadmill that didn't do that for years...the speed stayed exactly where I set it...and it was after it started varying that we decided it was time to buy a new one!

I'm so sick over this...I hate putting out (DH's :) ) hard earned money for garbage. It cost $600, and I really didn't want to spend more than that...I'm not a runner, nor a jogger, and never will be...I just wanted to get some walking in at home for convenience or when the weather is bad.

Does anyone have a treadmill where the speed varies at all or does it stay pretty steady?

HI MaryAnn. Our treadmill is downstairs gathering dust. But, when we do use it it still works fine. I think we bought it in 1995 for about $300. Since you called before the warranty expired and after two attempts by the repairmen it isn't working right, I think I would ask for a new one. Sears usually says their goal is customer sevice...satisfaction guaranteed.:D

I agree with faith I would ask Sears to replace it!

I would ask for a replacement too. Sears shouldn't have a problem replacing this for you.

Good luck!

Hi, Mare! It sounds like we might have the same machine. I've had mine for almost three years and love it. It is built to last! It really takes a pounding when I'm on it, but it keeps going and going. If I were you, I'd have them give you a new one. It sure sounds like you got a lemon.

Don't give up on ProForm. They really are wonderful machines (or that's been my experience). I'd just make them replace yours.

We bought a treadmill from Sears in 1996. It worked ok until the belt got stuck or something. Sears let us return it for a partial refund (which was ok by us). Good luck with yours! I hope they will replace it for you.

Sounds like you need a replacement. Mine only varies by a tenth of a mile per hour and even then it doesn' happen often. I sure wouldn't like to be surprised by an increase in speed up to 4.7 mph!! That would be dangerous!
