Treadmill Nirvana and other ramblings

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you and the kids did something fun. We went to sister-in-law's for a cookout and saw the local parade. MIL was in parade so it was fun, even though it rained. I feel like a swamp rat lately. At least the temps are better this week, huh?

Well, just wanted to say "Hi!"

Hi Sunny!

I hope you had a great weekend and that you have an awesome, wonderful week ahead of you! Take care! :grouphug:

Hi everyone :)

Jay-nee-- My sister took her kids to the midnight showing the night Episode 3 opened (school night and all!). I was jealous, too.

Tasha-- we're used to cold but not THIS much!!!!! Its been awful. But finally the sun peeked out this weekend :)

We had a nice weekend, the SUN :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: came out! TG!!!! We had a Retirement party at my Mom's on Saturday for Dad. Just family so it was nice and relaxed. Mom had a bunch of low point food options so I didn't stress over food :) Sunday DS and I played big time at the playground, ran around the soccer field and then later went over to the track at the high school and he ran 2 laps (.5 miles). Not bad for under 5yo! Maybe I have a running buddy in the making! Then on Memorial Day Dx and I took DS to Gloucester to play on the beach and have a picnic. It was really nice. I then snuck out for a run in the evening. I ran 8.5 miles. It didn't feel like a long run at all! I don't know when I'll get the chance to do another 14 mile run. But I'm psyched for it.

Now back to work. blah. Its cold and drizzly again!

Hi Sunny,

You are doing an amazing jb. Cograts on the 14 mile run. Have you thought about running a marathon? Just wondering.

You are so close to your goal. I am so proud of you,

I hope things settle down a bit, and that the weaher cooperates with you.

Take care,
Beth

Yes I do hope to run a marathon soon. Ultimately, I want to run the Boston Marathon and of course the WDW one if I can swing it!

Today we had our "5K Fun Run" at my gym. I came in second for the women! I'm shocked because I don't think of myself as a fast runner at all. Now I'm itching to find another race to run in. Maybe a 10K, then half marathon, then full marathon. Yippee :Pinkbounc

Congrats on your awesome perfomance in the race! That is so cool! :cool1:

You must be so proud of all you've accomplished!!!

Sunny - Awesome job on the 5k run!!!! I'm hoping to start picking up my running more and maybe train for the next Boulder Boulder here. It's a 5k run too, so I think I could do it. I can't believe you can do 12 miles now. Look how long you have come :goodvibes

Keep up the great work!!!

Congrats on the 5k - second place! WOW! I have to know - How fast did you do it in? ;) I'm sure you were so great. That is an inspiration for little ol me. Good for you. My DS, 5, just drags along when it is time to go for a walk, so I still have to work on him!! :) I am thinking of getting him a new trike or bike so he can come with me. DD, 10, came with me on Tuesday. I wogged and she rode her bike and we got along great and it was nice to have the company.

Hello

Calena: My time was 26:12, but I must stress that this was a very hilly run, in fact they kept apologizing for the hills!

Last Friday I bought Hal Hidgon's Marathon Training book and a book called "Chi Running" :cool1: I'm getting serious now :goodvibes

I ran 12 miles on Sunday in the heat (86 deg). I carried a water bottle and took a sip about every half mile and that seemed to be enough. I'm going to have to start getting out earlier in the morning to avoid the heat.

Weight: Ugh. I was up 1.8 lbs this week (since May23rd, since we didn't have WW on Mem. Day). I am really upset because I didn't eat horribly. I've taken liberties, but not more than I've been doing all along. I'm worried I've hit a new level of metabolism that is going to require allot more vigilence than I've been mustering up to date. Blah. I'm getting nervous that I won't make it to Lifetime by the end of this WW at Work Session. I still should make goal.

DS's 5th birthday is Friday. I haven't planned his party yet :scared1: I've never been so behind on a party before! I also don't have any great gifts. I've asked Dx to look into getting him a bike. He can't ride at our house because we're on a very busy street, but I could take him places and run while he rides.

I also haven't even begun to think about a summer vacation. I feel very behind!

Sunny

Hi Sunny!

Sounds like you have been busy lately! I'm sending you some :wizard: to help you with planning your DS's birthday party and your summer vacation.

You are doing such a great job with your exercise! Running 12 miles in 86 degree heat is amazing to me! :earseek: Keep up the good work Sunny! :goodvibes

Have a wonderful day today! :flower:

That's a great idea to get DS a bike--what a fun way to share exercise together!

Hope you have a wonderful day--have fun with party planning!

OK - YOU ARE AMAZING 26:12 with HILLS! And close to lifetime with WW! What an inspiration for your pal with 40 minutes with two small hills and still 34 lbs off goal! :)
When DS 5 had his birthday it was pretty low key. I find at that age they are happy just to play with their pals. He had four friends over and was thrilled. We played hot potato, musical chairs, pin the tail on the donkey, all the old favorites. Had lunch - which most were too excited to eat. Had cake - ditto. Opened presents. They played. I guess it depends on your area and what kids are used to, but usually the biggest thrill is being with their friends. I guess this time of year they could play outdoors too... in a sprinkler if you don't have a wading pool. Anyway, good luck. DON'T STRESS. :goodvibes

Sunny - You did a 5k run in less than 27 minutes?? Holy Moly Batman, I thought I was doing great with 5 miles at 60 minutes :earseek: I want to be like you when I grow up :goodvibes You are so amazing :teeth:

I agree with Calena about not stressing with DS's birthday. He's only 5 and probably won't remember much. A fun sprinkler would be cool, if it's hot enough. Maybe some water games (sponge/water balloon toss) If he just had few friends, I think he would be thrilled.

Don't stress!!!!!!

ah, you guys are the best :grouphug:

Thanks so much for the ideas for DS's bday. You're right, he will have fun with a little. Many of his friends have had big expensive parties at various organized club places. I am not going to compete! I sent Dx out for the bike last night but he came home empty handed. He "looked". I told him there 's no time for looking, BUY! Hopefully, he'll buy one tonight.

Today I am not going to the gym at lunchtime (now) and planning to do a 10 mile run on the bike path afterwork. It will be 86 deg but not bad hummidity so I hope it will work. It'll be tight getting back to the daycare on time. I hate being nervous about time.

I'm really struggling with wanting to eat more and more food. I just can't go there. Its so strange to be so close to goal and yet it seems like a million miles away. My tummy troubles seem to come and go, but I still stay clear of loading up on huge amounts of veggies like I used to. That means I just have to go without when my points are done :( Some days I feel so thin and other days (like today) I see my reflection and wince, "am I still THAT fat????" I guess these issues will never fully go away :confused3

Stay cool everyone :smooth:

Sunny

You are doing a lot of exercise. Are you eating enough? When our bodies go into starvation mode they hang on to whatever, even if we don't want them too. I read about a lady who started WW and she actually had to eat more... even though she was about 60 lbs overweight.
Have you seen the time magazine this week about exercise... it is so much more important for us than what the scale says. Very intersting... of course, I still would like to have a pair of size six anything so.... ;)

Hi Sunny!

Thanks for the :wizard: in my journal. I really appreciate it! :teeth:

Have a great Thursday! :flower:

I know you are busy busy, but hope DS's birthday goes well. Enjoy it and take lots of pictures! ;)

Hey Sunny...

Just checking in to see how things are going? I'm sure you're still running up a storm. I've been trying to run more often and think of you every time :goodvibes

Hope things are going well

How was the party? Did DS get his bike?

Hope all is well with you!

Side note--I kind of do the same thing as Tera. I've been thinking of taking up jogging (very, very slowly) and I think of you every time. I think you are the DIS WISH running mascot!!!
