Has anyone done the secret deals and where you happy with what you got? I am looking at a 4 star near Universal/I-drive/Sea World. Any ideas what it might be? It seems like you can't go wrong with a 4 star, right????
What is the highest number of Stars they will give a property? If it is five, having four should be excellant, however if the number of possible stars is higher than five the quality is definitely lower.
I just used Travelocity for this for the first time on a recent trip to WDW. I knew our last night (a Friday night) we'd be staying at MK late and we'd have to leave for the airport at 3:30am Didn't want to pay summer & weekend rate for about 3 hours of sleep! Stayed at a 3 star for $26. The hotel was okay - the room was clean, but very worn. It suited our needs for a brief stay. I would think with a 4 star you'd be good. Often times you can figure out where you'll end up at by looking at hotels in that area (booking knowing the hotel name) and comparing amenities.
Just be aware that with any of the "opaque" booking sites (including Priceline, Hotwire, Travelocity Secret Deals), many 4-star hotels in the Orlando area have required resort fees (which can be up to $20 a night) that are not included in the quoted price. Also, 4-star hotels often have expensive parking fees. So account for that possibility when considering how much to pay.
