Travelling with newborn

Has anyone travelled since January with a newborn? Just wondering how it works for birth certificates / passports. I'm hoping to go to Disney next February. At that time I'll have a 4 month old. Sometimes it takes awhile for the birth certificates to come in so I'm just wondering if they make allowances for that with passport requirements,etc. Anyone know? Thanks.

We traveled with our son at 2 months, to Vero and then a few days at WDW.

The city you live in should give you a letter confirming the birth. I just passed it over with our passports We had no issue at the boarder BUT we drove and I understand you are out of luck with no passport to fly. Still scrambling to get his passport for our October Cruise.

This doesn't make sense so I am sure they must have to do something.

Call your passport office. There is a special passport they can issue if you don't have a a Birth certificate yet. We got one for our a son because his adoption wasn't complete, had to get supporting letters from agency. The following year our friends came with us with their baby and had a temporary passport as well. They had to take the statement of live birth ( I think), a note form the doctor, a detailed iteneriary of the trip and proof like a receipt and not sure what else, I'm sure if you call them they will tell you what can be done. The passport was good for a year, then when we got the birth certificate we had to take it in and they updated the passport and extended the date another two years. That was three years ago, so I'm also not sure if anything has changes, but worth looking into.

Go to the Clerk's office of the municipality where you registered your child's birth and have them issue a travel letter. You can only get this is the child is under 6 months old. If you're driving across the border, you just hand it to the customs agent (and keep a photocopy for yourself). If you're flying, you'll need to take it to your local passport office and they will issue a temporary passport. Be careful with this letter as only one will be issued and it cannot be replaced.

We travelled to WDW in Feb with our son who was almost 6 months at the time. However we had also been across the border when he was about 2 weeks old too. For that we got the travel letter that other posters have mentioned. We also had by the time we went in Feb his passport and his birth cert.
We flew out of buffalo and had no problems at the border. It was the airport that they asked lots of questions. He was travelling on my lap and they wanted to see his birth certificate and asked us point blank, is your son returning with you.
I wanted so bad to make a smart *** remark, like no we figure after 6 months he can fend for himself. But just said, yes he was.
Coming home a bit diffrent ( we also had to come home a diffrent carrier) and they asked for proof that we were his parents and asked us if we had paid money for him. I think I said, pardon me to that. And said no.
