Travelling w/ 2 small kids... gardengrocer.com question

I would love to hear about your GardenGrocer.com shopping lists!! I think my mind might just be mush by this point. I have spent the last 1-1/2 hours on the GardenGrocer.com website trying to place the order for our upcoming trip. I just can't decide what we will need or how much of it I should buy.

Our trip details....
me, DH, DD(4), DS(2, but eats as much as I do )
7 nights in Wilderness Lodge
free dining

Since we have the dining plan, we will mainly need juice, water, breakfast stuff (planning to eat in room usually), and snacks. DH and I will be celebrating our 9th anniversary while we are there, so we will probably have a bottle of wine & snacks on the balcony one night after the kids are asleep.

Anybody have any shopping tips or suggestions to share? Thanks so much!!

We did DDP and used Garden Grocer on our last trip and it worked out great. Your plan sounds a lot like what we did. We bought milk for ds and for the breakfast cereal. We also bought Soda (in plastic bottles), Orange Juice and bottled water. Planning "how much" is the hard part. DH did the order so I can't tell you what his strategy was but there was very little waste at the end of our trip. Definitely keep in mind that the dining plan is a ton of food (we've done it three times now and I gained 5lbs one trip I honestly couldn't believe it either because we walked litteraly everywhere - didn't take the boat from BWV, walked from BWV to MGM, didn't ride the tram at TTC) so don't go overboard on the snacks!

I agree w/PP -- try not to go overboard with the snacks. I've learned to only order 1/2 of what I think we'll need and there's still left over. I try to stick to the basics -- milk, OJ & apple juice, soda, water, cereal, bagels, muffins, goldfish and cereal bars. Of course diapers and wipes! I must have my coffee in the AM so that's an absolute and I usually order some fruit, apples and bananas. I think that's about it. I was just looking over the list last night -- we'll be going in Oct and I'm getting ready to place my order. This will be our 4th time using GardenGrocer, they're wonderful!
BTW -- we'll be staying at the VWL, my kids love it!

We're going in Oct as well (13 - 24) - how far in advance do we have to place the order? I want to wait till as close as possible 'cause there's a slight chance we'll have to move the date...

We just returned and we got bananas, apples, 2 pks of cereal variety packs, oatmeal squares, rits bits cheese crackers, cinnamon bread and 32 bottles of water. We were there for 10 days and had to order more water and cereal. We all would eat in the room for breakfast and snack. We were very happy with the service and selection. I ordered weeks in advance but when I needed more they were able to get it together and deliver it the same day! They are awesome!

BABY WIPES! We use them for everything--you can never have too many. There's the obvious use, before and after eating, after putting on sunscreen, etc. I also got a pack of paper plates. It was only a couple of dollars, and came in really handy for splitting/sharing/serving meals/snacks/leftover desserts. I'm guessing your 2 and 4 yo's will likely share meals and/or share with you and your dh. Plastic utensils I got from our food court, but they didn't have plates.

But on the DDP, really try to restrain yourself on the snacks. We bought a lot of breakfast stuff, and I had to force myself to eat it. And then we had lots of snack credits to use up on the last day.

With a 2 yo not on the plan, you might want a few more finger foods, but (again), there is a lot of food on the DDP. Unless things have changed, I think I read on gardengrocers site that if you need a second delivery during your stay, they will do it at no extra charge.

Does gardengrocer have wine? If not, you should be able to buy a bottle at your resort gift shop. Or you could just pick up a couple of glasses or drinks at the hotel bar. My dh loves to sit out on the balcony with a pina colada! Happy anniversary!

I will bring my own diaper wipes, antibacterial wipes, juice boxes (GG doesn't offer organic), a couple instant oatmeal packets, individual apple sauce and coffee.

My GG order includes:
organic bananas
organic apples
organic milk
organic yogurt
Mott's Healthy Harvest applesauce cups
cereal
water
diapers
Silk soymilk coffee creamer
asti spumante (it's our anniversary)
disposable bibs (probably, still on the fence about that one)

sounds good. Thunderbird is right, they waived the delivery charge and minimum limit for our second order.

I brought disposable bibs from home. I think I brought 10 of them and only used 5. My kids are 3 and 5. I only use them for ice cream or really messy food.

Since you mentioned organic products, did they mention what brand the yogurt is? DD has irritable bowel syndrome and I have found Stonyfield or Horizon yogurt in the morning makes the day much better for her. Especially since she will be eating greasy nuggets and pizza most of the week.. . It would ease my mind a bit to know if they can deliver this to us. If not, we will make a grocery store trip from the airport.

They have Stonyfield listed on their website - under natural and organic foods - but they carry Horizon milk so I am guessing Horizon yogurt wouldn't be difficult for them to obtain. We have found them to be very accommodating of special requests. Good luck!
