I wondered if anyone who knows Florida well could give us some suggestions where we can stop for one night at either end of our WDW visit in August.
We fly into Miami and then have 2 nights to drive up to Orlando. Our flight lands at about 4 pm so we wondered if we should stay in Miami that first night as we will be a bit exhausted! We could stay near the airport and then pick up our car early the next morning and set off up the coast. We'd like to drive up the east coast, probably on a 'scenic route' ( on a map there seems to be a road right along the coast - is that right?), have a whistle-stop look at Palm Beach etc and then aim to stop somewhere for the night by mid afternoon. Can anyone recommend a place to just chill out overnight, with some inexpensive places to stay and eat. We'd like 'laidback' rather than 'glitzy'! We don't want to get as far as Cocoa Beach as we've been there before, but that's the kind of place we mean (I think!). What is Vero Beach like (although our budget doesn't stretch to the Disney hotel unfortunately)? Or Stuart ?
Any advice would be much appreciated........!
Then after WDW we want to drive down the West coast or inland even,so we can drive through the Everglades. So any advice for an overnighter then would also be great! We will be on our way to Key West so the distance we need to travel will be greater.
Hope it's OK to ask this on a Disney message board, but we want some pixie dust on our travels if possible!
