I will be making my first truly solo trip to Disney January 3rd - 8th/9th?, 2007

What all do you make sure you do when you go alone?
This being my first time alone, I know I get to certain things that no one else I traveled with would want to go.

What experiences are better alone?

I'm already planning on going to Cinderalla's Royal Table for dinner by myself, Fantasmic Dinner Package and Victoria and Albert's.

What character breakfast would be best to do by yourself?

I don't know which character breakfast is the best but I'm going solo to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast in Sept. I love the Marry Poppins/Alice in Wonderland characters. I did the character breakfast at Chef Mickey's a few years ago and enjoyed it.

As far as character breakfasts are concerned, I'm not sure which one would be best. Maybe Donald's Breakfastronsaurus at DAK. But traveling alone is nice because you can do what you want to do when you want to do it. January is a great time to go since it's not too busy and not too hot! Enjoy your trip!

Have been on 4 solo trips so far and have had a blast!! The freedom to do what you want, when you want, dine when & where you want and so on is great! I love to read, so I always have a book in my bag. This helps alot while waiting for a parade or show to start or while I'm eating. Takes any awkwardness of being there solo away for me.

I always use the same common sense as I do at home.

1. Don't bring alot of jewerly.
2. I only bring a little cash, an atm card and 1 credit card. I put everything on my room key and lock the credit card in the in-room safe. Anything else I know I won't need stays at home (less to lose).
3. Double lock your room at all times. I always do this, even if I'm just running in and out.
4. Anyone coming to your door claiming to be from the resort (except for the obvious Mousekeeper), I always ask for their name and what they need. If I am not expecting anyone, I will call the front desk to confirm.
5. Use the in-room safe to store your wallet, airline ticket, etc.
6. Request for a room close to the main building of your resort ahead of time. I always let the resort know I am traveling solo and would feel more comfortable being close to the main building.
7. Don't bring any valuables to the pool, unless you plan not to walk away from where you are. Again, less to lose.
8. Don't mention to too many strangers that you are there solo.

Forgot about meals. These are my must-dines on every trip:

Crystal Palace -- This is a character meal for breakfast, lunch & dinner.
50's Primetime Cafe
Tusker House
Rose & Crown
Le Cellier

We have gone on some special tours that the parks offer. You might not have been able to do these in the past due to the person might not have wanted to go or $????

Check with WDW Central and you might find some interesting offers!

I avoid the counter service places because I feel most of the food is the same no matter where you go. And I'm going to call at exactly 180 days to get my preferred times for all my eateries (I'm obsessive like that)

Here's my list of eateries so far:
Day 1: Hotel/Magic Kingdom
Plane Comes in at 10AM
Lunch: ---------?
Dinner:Crystal Palace (I saw the menu for CRT and was disappointed)

Day 2: Magic Kingdom
Lunch:-------?
Dinner:Victoria's and Albert's the later seating

Day 3: Epcot
Lunch: Alfredo's
Dinner: Ohana's? This may change

Day 4: MGM
Lunch: Sci-Fi
Dinner: Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package

Day 5: Animal Kingdom
Breakfast:Breakfastorous
Lunch: -------?
Dinner: Jiko's

Day 6: Downtown Disney
Lunch: Fulton's Crab House
Dinner: Yachtsmen

Day 7:
Breakfast: 1900 Park Fare
Go Home after that

Tour Wise - I know I want to do the Behind the Seeds becuase no one else in my family ever wanted to do it with me. I'm going to look into the other ones.

I might change the lunch to do the lunch with an Imagineer, seeing as I'm a mechanical engineering major and working for disney would be my ideal job.

I have a feeling I'll be able to get through the parks a lot quicker because of single rider lines and them calling for single riders often.

I like the idea about a book, I would have completely forgotten about that.

Excellent post. I would not have thought about placing credit card in the room safe while touring the parks. I enjoy my solo visits to WDW for the reasons others have mentioned on this thread. Looking forward to my next visit (see below).

Enjoy.

i just went on my first solo trip in april. i planned, and planned, and planned some more and found out that i didn't do anything according to plan except the KTTK tour. i highly recommend it. i was dying for the conversation and company and since i am not one to start up a conversation, it was much needed and we felt special walking around with the headsets like we were in on a secret that no one else knew.

as for restaurants, never quite got my courage to go to them alone but plan to next time.

most important thing............do what you want to do. one morning, i didn't feel like doing anything so i hung in the room all morning and ate breakfast and watched a movie. put the do not disturb on the door and finally emerged in the afternoon. i loved it!
