We're off to DLP for our first trip on the 13th Dec!

We went to WDW in April and could use travellers cheques like cash with no commission. Is this the same at DLP or is there are commission charge?

Thanks :)

I've never know shops or restaurants to take traveller cheques so you would need to cash them in. SIL had some last summer and found the commsiion rate expensive.
We just use a small amount of Euros and credit card that does not charge transaction fee. ATM can be used to also withdraw cash.

By the way that was rude of me. Welcome to DIS board EasyStar :wave2:

Thanks very much for the welcome and for the information. I think we'll take cash as we don't have a commission free credit card.

I can highly recommend Nationwide. Only use it for our holidays and spent less since transactions were at bank exchange rate not tourist :)

It does annoy me that my bank charge me for the privilege of using my own money. Why on earth give is cards that we can use abroad then charge us to use them!!! Don't get me started......

If you are staying at a Disney hotel, you can use your hotel card to charge all over the resort, and then the total is charged to your credit card at the end of your holiday as just a single transaction! That way you don't have to have a lot of cash on you in the parks, and still avoid the transaction charges. If you do need a bit of cash, as Reid said you can always take some from the ATM.

Thanks for all the advice. I think we will use the hotel charge card option. See if we can charge it up with euros when we arrive to avoid carrying the cash around.

I think I will sign up for a nationwide card Cyrano, for our next trip.

EasyStar, all you have to do is tell them at the hotel when you check in that you would like to use your hotel ID for charging and they will take an imprint of whatever card you want charged at the end of your holiday. Simple and convenient and also I think the safest. Can we ask where you will be staying? (Inquiring minds want to know! We arrive the 12th...)

Jody, we're staying in the disneyland hotel. Have a 2 year old so hopefully will be nice and easy to take him back there for a nap during the day.

We're going on the 13th.

You will LOVE the DLH! We stayed there last year in Castle Club for part of our time and it was glorious!
ENJOY!!

Hi all

Just a couple of questions,

Does the Sequoia lodge have the hotel card facility?

What is the commission rate for Travellers cheques in DLP?

What is the charge for using the Cash Machine?

Thanks ;)

Yup, you can simply give the Sequoia your credit card to imprint when you check in. Then for the duration of your stay you can charge everything to your hotel ID, and it will all run as a single transaction when you check out. Very simple, and in my opinion the best way to handle the money situation. Of course you still might want a bit of Euro cash for the odd place where you don't want to charge - although even the smaller food stands, which used to accept cash only, now allow you to charge. As for ATM charges, anyone know? I don't.
I usually get some cash before leaving home, and usually come home with almost all of it! (Although last year at DLP this was not the case as anyone who read my trip report knows! :bitelip:

I don't know about traveler's checks - sorry.
Hope this helps!
