Traveller's Cheques

Are they accepted? I am really nervous carrying cash and was hoping to take mostly traveller's cheques. We are staying at All Stars and I was hoping that I could just put some traveller's cheques on my room upon arrival and than if we have any left over after our stay will they just refund it in cash?

I always travel with them and they are easily accepted. Some places ask for a photo idea to cash them but most didn't.

If there are two of you there are dual signature travellers cheques which means that both of your signatures are on them but you only need one signature to cash them.

You won't have a problem. At the All Stars they give you a $500 limit on room charging. Just use your card and every couple days go down and clear the bill. It's the simplest thing to do.

Will they let you pay on your room before you've used it? I was just hoping to get it out of my hand as soon as possible so I was hoping I could put $500 on the room when we got there.

I don't know. We've always just done it this way.

Yes I have done it. When you check in give them the deposit and your pruchases will be deducted from them. They will only give you $500 limit if you have a credit card on file. I do not use CC for vacation spending so I give them my deposit, spend it and then add more.

We give them a CC at check-in but the night before we check out go to the front desk to pay off the balance with traveller's cheques. If we are spending a lot we would go to the front desk during the vacation and settle up to avoid having the balance to the CC. We only brought a small amount of cash with us ($100 for a week).

I also believe that some of the Travelers Check companies are doing it via a debit type card, so you don't even have to have the paper checks, just the card. Check out Amercan Express or Visa sites.

Even the carts took TC. Good for us cause we got more but bad for the waistline oh well

90% of our money we take is TC's they are accepted every where at Disney plus if you lose them or they get stolen you get them replaced that day if you lose your cash or it gets stolen no one is replacing that for you.
