Traveling Xmas week

We always visit Orlando for President's week but my nephew has decide to get married (at Disney) on Wednesday 12/28 so we'll be heading down then this year. I already have accomodations set for 4 nights, Tuesday 12/27 through Saturday, 12/31. I just need to get down there.

I have never traveled this week and I have a party of 5 from CT. Will the flights be very expensive when they finally show up (JetBlue, AirTran, SW)? $250 a ticket is my max. What they have out there now is very expensive. I would be flexible and would fly into Tampa. I would even consider driving but I don't want to. Any insight into what I will find would be appreciated.

Flights are always more expensive over holidays and in prime travel time. Get your tickets as soon as you see a price you can live with.

I tried a mock search on Expedia for your dates, flying from Hartford (just picked an airport in CT), and nothing even came close to $250 RT. They were all far over. Note Expedia does not include fares for all airlines, including Southwest.

I travel the Saturday after Thanksgiving and come back the following Saturday every year, and I have never gotten anything lower than $200.00 round trip with seat fees, luggage fees, etc. I fly from BWI to MCO.

You are going at the busiest holiday time all year; expect to pay dearly for it.

Would you be opposed to flying either on Christmas Day or New Year's Day? We always fly on those two days when we're visiting relatives in CT, because you can get dirt-cheap flights. (We fly out of BDL.)

Maybe you could extend your visit by one day to fly back on New Year's Day?

I agree with the PP. We flew out of Rochester NY on 12/27/10, home on 1/2/11 and paid approximately $700 per person on Jet Blue.

OUCH!!! Let's see, $700 x 5 = $3,500, vs $400 unlimted miles mini van rental. I'll be driving then.
