We will be cruising on the August 18th Wonder and we are taking a friend for my daughter who is 14. Besides having the cruise tickets filled out before we go I am also going to have a notarized letter from the parents giving her permission to travel with us and treat her medically if need be. This should be all I need I hope. Anyone taken someone elses child before and what did you need?
Thanks

Good! I'm glad you're getting the notarized letter. We've had debates on this board about whether that's necessary. I believe it's absolutely better to be safe than sorry. As for other documentation, you'll, of course, also need a certified copy of that child's birth certificate.

Thanks dave for the answer. I forgot to mention that the teen we are taking got a passport for the trip so we wouldn't have to worry about the birth certificate.
Would it be important for both parents signature to be on the notarized letter? Also the cruise contract in the tickets that the parent has to sign I assume that is just one of the parents signature.
Thanks.

To be safe, get both parents' signatures. What can it hurt? Also, make sure to have the child's insurance card with you (or a copy). Again, just to be safe.

Everything said already is what we had done when we took the neighbor kid with us last January. He was 13 yrs old at the time, but has ADD and dyslexia. A list of medications and also any medical problems. The notorized letter from the parents is required from DCL stating that you are taking a minor out of the country.

Have fun, we did!

I am glad I came across this thread....we are taking my DS17's friend along on 8/3 and I knew about the BC or Passport, but did not realize about the notarized letter with both parents signature...or the copy of the medical card. I would much rather be overprepared than under.
