Traveling with Baby Formula

This is going to be my first time traveling with an infant. How do I bring her formula on the plane. Is it ok to bring the pre made bottles that are packaged or a small container of powdered formula???

I flew three times this year with different expereinces. First time at JFK, they just questioned me about the contents of the bottles and let me through.

Second time at a Long Island Airport they used some type of device to make sure the formula was not explosive....swiping it over each bottle. I asked them not to open the bottles if possible, are they are sterile and they complied. I put the water in the bottle and added the powdered formula later for this trip...easier as you do not have to worry about keeping anything cold.

The LI airport was extremely thorough....my experience is the slower the airport the more checking. When we flew out of Jackson Hole WY....it took about twenty minutes to clear security!

Call your carrier and ask before you go.....

The carrier won't care.

The OP should check www.tsa.gov, but formula in reasonable amounts is allowed through security.

The carrier will give you the exact same information that the TSA will.

When my youngest was on formula, I bought the ready to feed single serve nursette bottles. I brought 6 on the plane (I always travel with 24hrs worth of baby supplies). I had no problems getting through security with them. I also brought a small can of powdered formula and a couple of empty bottles, just in case.

I had additional nursette bottles shipped directly from Enfamil to my resort so I had enough for the week as well as the trip home. I liked the convenience of the nursette bottles since they do not need to be refrigerated.
