I've been googling and have gotten a heap of conflicting information.

When we flew to NZ we were allowed to take 350ml of milk on board with us for DD's bottle, no one batted an eyelid. I figured we'd be able to do the same when we go to the US (however we'll probably have 1L of it this time).

However someone has told me that they were required to put it all into separate 100ml containers, it didn't matter how much in total, so long as it was all separate.

Has anyone else had to do this?

I haven't taken milk, but on a couple of occasions have been allowed more than the 100ml. Once when we were coming home from Thailand, we had 4 bottles of drinks we had just bought. They decided that the kids could keep their drinks, but the adults had to throw theirs. The funny thing is, they chose who's was whose, so my husband and I got to keep our soft drinks, and the kids Powerades got chucked!
We also were allowed to take a bottle of Dimetapp which was quite a bit bigger than 100ml. I think it might just depend on who you get on the day.

Baby food/supplies are under different rules to the usual.

We travelled last year with my then 14 month old bottle/formula fed son. I had approx. 4 bottles with about 200mls water in them in my carry-on. I had to tell them at each inspection pace at customs. Once it went through the scanner I then had to go to the side with an officer who opened to cooler and placed each bottle separately into a machine that does some kind of test on it. Each time it cleared and was allowed to continue.

I believe they would do the same thing with milk.

You'll be fine with milk/water for infants. I've taken bottles of boiled water and drink bottles for my LO on board to and within the U.S. without any problems. As the PP said, they'll scan each bottle separately once you go through security and you'll have to take them out of your bag to go through the scanner. If you're lucky you might get put in the pre-approved TSA queue to speed things up, they don't require liquids to be removed from your bag - so much quicker.

Just confirming that what everyone said was right and is still correct. We had no problems with anything. Virgin Australia wouldn't put Audrey's milk in the fridge, but they had refrigerated milk for us if we wanted it.

We were put in the TSA pre-approval queue, which was handy, but we really didn't line up that long anywhere.
