We're planning on going to the World August 29-September 5. I always said I'd never go in the summer, but my boys are older now, and I really don't want to take them out of school (particularly my oldest one who has a hard time adjusting). I know it's going to be hot, although my argument to my DH is we usually go in September anyway, and it's still hot, so why not go earlier. This time we will have our 14 month old daughter with us. We've never traveled with such a little one when it's hot. How terrible is it? I know to dress her as cool as possible with lots of sunscreen. I'll bring plenty of water for her to drink, and I'll probably bring my bigger stroller which has a good size canopy. How have other people managed, and do you have any tips?

Thanks so much!

We took our 10 month old daughter in late August, and it worked out great!

Yes, it was hot. But it wasnt unbearable for her. We dressed her in a cool sundress, and put an absorbent cloth behind her in the stroller to keep the sweat to a minimum.

We froze wash cloths every night, and let her play/suck on them in her stroller throughout the day, so she stayed cool. We got a big shade for her stroller, and kept her out of the sun.

Overall I think we were more concerned about the heat than she was! I say go for it. With a little advanced prep, it will be great for you all!

We took our DS and DD when my son was 11 months and my daughter was turning 4. We went from Aug 7 to Aug 13. It was hot so they say(heat doe snot bother me). Anyway, my son did great. We had a stroller with a canopy and a spray fan. Every morning we loaded up the fan with cold water and would spritz both my children through out the day or whenever they wanted it. My daughter was always drenched bc of it:rotfl2: ........she enjoyed the fan. We bought the Disney one........very expensive but very worth it. My son wore a lot of white as did my daughter. You are little one will be fine. She will have a great time just like the rest of you. Bring lots of liquid, sun screen and the fan does help. Have a great time. We will actually be there from Aug 25 to Sept 1.:cool1:

We went last September (Aug 31-Sept 6) and DD was exactly 14 months. We just had her in a 1-pc romper/dress and she was just fine. She didn't seem to mind the heat. We just kept a sippy or a bottle in the stroller for her, kept the canopy over her, and she drank when she needed it and that was that. No biggie. :)

My MIL, on the other hand, had to be babied!
