Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

How long did it take to get your disney rewards card? We have been waiting well over a week and it's still not here. :sad2: Any thoughts, ideas or people willing to share their rewards card with us?? :rolleyes1
One last mail delivery tomorrow, one last chance.

It took us about 8-9 days to get our card. I certainly hope it makes it to you tomorrow. :wizard:

I have an update on my FIL. The bottom line is--we're going!:worship: :cool1:  We still don't know much and he's going to come down to the farm whether he's on oxygen or not, so we're getting the heck out of here!

I'm done packing with the exception of our shampoo/cosmetic bag. I had to take stuff out of almost every suitcase due to the weight.:rolleyes1 I tried--I really did--to limit what I packed. I thought I did good until I weighed each one.;)

I'm going to take DD to volleyball at 6:30 and then rush home to try to get an A boarding pass on Southwest. We are leaving school a little bit early tomorrow and will be sitting at the airport at this time tomorrow.:woohoo: I'm looking forward to meeting and seeing everyone!

Susan

That's wonderful news! Your father will be in our prayers. :grouphug:

I hear you on the luggage thing. We actually take a digital fish scale to weigh our bags. I had to shuffle things at the airport and I didn't like that to say the least. It's easy to tote and easy to weigh the bags with the fish scale. Who would of thought to use it? My husband stumbled on to this. :teeth: We do quite a bit of laundry to cut down on "stuff." We took 2 medium cases, one large case, a carry on and a duffel bag to bring stuff home. It was a pain in the rear. We didn't use a lot of the things so I've cut way back. For over a week including our shoes and formal wear I have the three of us packed in 2 medium cases and one carry on. It's harder since we have to pack for the colder weather when leaving and returning.

I'm so excited. I don't think I can sleep!

Well just got back from a Bar dinner...imagine 100 lawyers in a room...ok stop the one-liners...

Anyway, if you go back a hundred pages or so, you will note that I initially said we will start packing tomorrow night...and we will...of course it helps we have done this before and that we drive instead of fly, but that wont stop Lisa from requesting an extra suitcase when she realizes she has more than intended and "needs"all of it...sigh

Chuck:cool1:

As to the rewards card, do what Michelle said...it took quite awhile to get ours too....the good news is that once you have the card, make sure you keep it, even if you use all the money on it, b/c you can transfer money to it again in the future from credit card tie-ins and those transactions only take a day or two to go through...the delay is obtaining the card itself the first time.

Thank you, but I will be turning down all the wonderful offers of paying for our excursions and spa packages.:rotfl2: We checked online and the card should have already arrived, we called them and they are overnighting a replacement card to the PC hotel we are staying at.

Really when you think about, how many companies strive to make customers number one? I know Disney isn't perfect, but it always amazing me what they will do to make their guests happy.

Safe travels to those leaving tomorrow. To those lucky enough: enjoy MVMCP. I think the boards will be quieter tomorrow night.

Best wishes to all who start traveling tomorrow! I cooked my last dinner for this month tonight and will do the last of the cleaning and packing tomorrow! It has been fun chatting with you on the boards and look forward to seeing you onboard! Counting down the hours not days until we leave on Friday!

*snicker, snicker* hehehehe

We leave straight from work to the airport tomorrow. I used to (key words - used to) pack the evening before each every trip. I typically forgot something. DH wasn't too happy because it was usually something of his. Now everyone is responsible for at least putting their stuff in piles. If you don't pack it then it just doesn't make it. No one can blame me anymore. Plus, I was up until the wee hours of the morning. No one can sleep when I'm still up. I guess I'm too noisy? :confused3 I've been packing for the past few days. On Monday we made our piles, yesterday evening I transferred them into the suitcases and took inventory. I reminded everyone what they were missing.

I was going to bring a bottle of De Loach red zin, but I have no bubble wrap. What I do have is the special wrapping I got from the gift shop at Boardwalk. My wine glasses from PFTS arrived with no problems. I've packed booze before but always had bubble wrap and liquor/wine boxes. I just don't know about that this time around. :scared: I've got clothes packed pretty tight, but they really and I mean really manhandled our luggage last time. Don't know if the bottle of wine could take that kind of beating without some reinforcements.

Needless to say, I've been browsing the web for nearby wine shops. I think I found one and they even had Conundrum. I'll have a car to do my shopping either before or after putt-putt and lunch. They say they have a few great red zin's so we shall see. I wish I could get a bottle of the Sauvingon Blanc I had at V&A's last month. It was awesome. :thumbsup2 I doubt anyone local carries it.

Oh, I even got housework done tonight. My desk is in great shape at work. I've never been more relaxed pre-trip than this one. I guess the stars just aligned or something. It's going to be an awesome trip for everyone. I can just feel it in my bones.

Safe travels to everyone. If you're running around right now getting ready, I wish you well that it will all just come together for you without hitch.

Take care everyone! :wave2: :flower3:

Good bye to all that leave tomorrow! Have a safe trip. Can't wait to meet everybody.

Our DD is turning 13 on Sat, Nov. 22. I think Suzymouse's DD is turning 13 during the cruise too.

Cindy If you have not left yet do you still have any lime green bracelets left. Would you mind bringing some to me. I need 3 adult and 1 youth. It fell off my todo list some how.

The doctor said he hopes to take my cast off tomorrow. I sure hope so. Then I have to move like the wind to get everything done before Sat morning. I am probably the last to leave the house Sat morning so if anyone has forgotten anything just ask on the board. I will check before we go.

Off to do:laundy: :laundy: :laundy: Were do all these people live that have clothes in my laundryroom. I will have to check the attic.

Lynn

Well, I'm still not ready to leave. Glad I have all day tomorrow. We don't leave until after school, thank goodness! I still have a list a mile long and most of it involves getting the house in order. Dh has not packed one item but has a stack of shirts on the bed. I did our online check in and we're fortunate to be exempt from paying the luggage fee since we booked our flights so early. I am so jealous of all of you Floridians who are easily packing up the car and driving. OK, maybe not so easily, but... The worst thing about traveling is getting there. On our last trip, my poor kids got frisked! For some reason, we were flagged twice for a search! This trip has to be smoother, right.

I think I'll be wearing a long sleeve white tee and black sweater or a red WDW sweatshirt to MVMCP. The kids will have on blue and red fleece DCL sweatshirts and if it's really 49 degrees, we'll be wearing gloves and hats too. I'm sure that hot chocolate will be yummy and will hit the spot on a cold night. Oh, and those cookies... Oh, sorry Ken, don't want to rub it in. I'm sure Judy will bring you a nice stash.

See you all soon!

I have been wondering that myself. I thought I did all the laundry on Sunday and I have about 4 more loads to go! :laundy:

It sounds as if many of us are scrambling around tonight to get last minute things done. I think we are packed and ready. I didn't load the SUV tonight like I thought I would, but I'm going to come home over my lunch break tomorrow and do that. We're leaving at about 3:00 for the airport. I'll get a chance to get on the DIS in the morning to check up on how everyone is doing. I hope everyone is able to get some sleep tonight. I have a terrible stuffed up nose. I don't feel sick or anything, but I just can't breathe very well through my nose. I'm sure that will make flying fun.;)

I told one of my friends that I was pretty sure that the caribbean sun would dry it all up and I'd be just fine once I got on the ship.:goodvibes

Have a great evening and hope everyone gets sleep tonight (including myself). I'm getting ready to take some Nyquil so I can breathe and hopefully pass out like a baby.:cloud9:

My daughter is 4 so not your age range, but I know there are a few teenagers. Maybe you could come to Studio Sea around 2:30 when a lot of folks are meeting and then you can meet some of the older kids.

Hi! My daughter is 13 and won't turn 14 until April. I do know that there is a girl that is participating in the fish extenders that is 17 though, so maybe the two of you will meet. Is your family attending the DIS meet? My family also loves all things Disney and cannot wait to board the Magic again.:thumbsup2
