I have been wondering the same thing. I'm worried about it, so if someone has more details on it, let us know. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't do much damage. Has anyone heard if CC is or was at risk?

Hello everyone. Some of you may notice a few posts missing from today. I have deleted those that violated DIS board guidelines and any that directly quoted them in response. I know that sometimes it is easy to read a post differently than how it is intended. There is no way to hear the inflection in the person's voice that would tell you that they were joking around and no way to see their body language to know the same. Once you have met each other on the ship you will find yourself picturing each other and hear your voices when you read each other's posts here. :) You are all so lucky to be boarding the Magic in just a week! I hope that everyone has a fantastic cruise and are able enjoy the week together.

Please take a moment to review this guideline...

3. NO FIGHTING/SARCASM: While we'd like to think that a Disney fan site is always lighthearted, there are times when there are disagreements. Let's face it, there are certain topics that can transform any of us into a raging "Donald Duck." When you sense this is happening, we ask that you step away from the discussion before it escalates into a fight. Just like Mom always said about fighting, we don't care who started the argument and we don't want it on the DIS. (Okay, she didn't say the part about the DIS, but you know what we mean.) No attacking others and no sarcasm please. Either will result in an infraction.

Also, if you find that a particular person's posts upset you, it is very easy to add them to your "ignore list" and you will alleviate that agrevation. :)

When Grand Cayman was hit in 2004 we were on the second DCL western to return there from the replacement port of Costa Maya after Hurricane Ivan hit on 9/12/04. We arrived the week of 12/10/04 I believe. It was still a mess with mud in the streets, broken windows in the stores in addition to the main road being torn up from the construction that was already in process when the storm hit the island. I hope that your cruise is not changed, but if DCL decides to do so it is for your enjoyment and for the interests of the people of GC so that they can clean up and restore utilities.

Where do you think they would divert our cruise to if they did have to divert it? We've never done the western, so we'll be happy with wherever we end up going.:goodvibes

While it appears the post in question has been removed, just a brief comment. Dry humor does not always play well with the written word. The question posed was clearly dry in nature and therefore a dry humor response was made.

The purpose of these threads are for people who will be spending time together to get to know one another in advance and make friends....we have made many friends from these boards the past several years including some w/whom we are traveling this trip. The boards can often be informational and allow for the sharing of information. We have learned a great deal from others from this website, and likely helped others in return.

My FE post on the 2009 thread was not my best comment, and for that I have apologized. That said, I know we and others joined this thread later than some people who have been here, but that should not detract from the purpose of these threads which is to help make an already enjoyable week even more enjoyable. I have a thick skin and while I did not appreciate the comments, Lora is entitled to her opinion. That said I do still intend to participate in the meet and greet and FE's b/c I intend to enjoy the week at sea, and I don't intend to deprive my son of the opportunity to enjoy the FE's, both delivering and receiving.

As to the question about being added to the FE's, I suggest that Susan (Disneypoor) or Michelle (cruisecrzy) please respond as they seem to have the lists organized at this point.

When we could not dock at GC in 2005 b/c of Hurricane Gamma, we just had an extra day at sea.

I would be more than happy to email the FE list to anyone that would like a copy. Additionally, if there is someone that is new to our thread that still would like to have the web address for our group website, I can get that to you as well. Just let me know.

We should all be happy and dancing like that darn banana right now! ( ) We are within days of either getting in a car, taking a train, or boarding a plane to a place where dreams really do come true.:wizard: I not only want this vacation--I NEED it and will look forward to making memories with my family as well as my old and new friends. (Stacie and Steph--I didn't mean you were "old", I just meant you were old friends.:lmao: )

I could do for a day in Key West. I love that place. I have a seat at Captain Tony's with my name on it.

Has anybody had experience shipping stuff to the ship?? I am starting to think I might want to do that.

Actually, Ken, I was just wondering if Key West would end up being an option if for some reason we couldn't make it to Grand Cayman. We've never been to either place, so we'd be perfectly happy with either.:thumbsup2 My DH doesn't really like sea days (gasp! I know!), so I'm sure he'd prefer we port somewhere. I just want to get on the ship, and from there I don't really care where we end up (as long as it's not on the bottom of the ocean. Okay, not funny!:rotfl: )

Chuck,

Not that this pertains to us, but what happens in the case where they cancel a port and someone books a non DCL excursion? My guess is they loose whatever they prepaid?

I like Key West too, but we must go to GC. There's a party going on in GC, right Michael.

Hey! You just got over 1,000 posts! Congratulations!:cool1: Where is this party at? I might need more info. Is it at Margaritaville? I've heard a lot about that place and have even checked out their website. When we get done with our island tour, we might be checking it out.

Yea for me!!!:goodvibes

You should definately check out Margaritaville, its a lot of fun! All you have been through you definately need to check it out. I think a lot of us plan on being there sometime throughout the day.

Ken: generally the non-Disney excursion will refund your money..they cannot take the risk of being shunned by Disney travellers in the futur....I know in 2005 some friends had a private excursion planned and they got all their money back.

Key West is not an option. I am pretty sure the reason this week is a double dip in the first place is b/c of the regatta at Key West.

Chuck:cool1:

I'll go anywhere :cool2: but I really hope GC is OK!

Guess what we are watching tonight? The POTC Trilogy!!! pirate:

Sadly, DH will not be dressing like Captain Jack, he picked his own costume for Pirate Night. He did base it on one of the characters from the third movie so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. :rolleyes1
