Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

After a little research, I believe the restaurant I am thinking of is called Breezes by the Bay.

Chuck:cool1:

Has anyone been to the Guy Harvey gallery on Grand Cayman? That's where we'll be going that day. DS is a huge fan. If Margaritaville is anywhere near there maybe we'll stop by.

Morning all!

Michelle, absolutely, anything you can find out about photopass and carrying on liquids... I'd love to hear. That's good to know about the changes they've made. I'd hate to get there with a case of water, expect it to be delivered to the room and end up carrying it for a few hours. Guess I need to go and find my little collapsible cooler. Do you have pictures from your party? I'd love to see your Redneck costumes. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Shell

So that reminded me to email a friend who I knew was in his office. See your PM or rumor has it Chuck knows a lot on this subject. ;) As for photopass I have asked two friends currently on the ship and I will let you know if and when they get back to me......they do not get tons of computer time.

As for pictures I think my husband took some group shots. It was later in the evening I know my socks were no longer pulled to my knees. he is supposed to download photos tonight. he is curently busy doing the laundry

Shell -

Michelle - by any chance are your friends from "Poke" county? ;) Though there are many stereotypical redneck towns in the area, Lakeland is what first comes to mind in your area.

Nope cow country (or as my husband calls them happy meals) St. Cloud, FL in Osceola County.

Sorry to post this here, it has nothing to do with the cruise.

We are buying a digital camera for MIL for christmas. She still has her 35mm film camera from 1984 and its just time to move on. She is technologically chalanged. Any advice for a very simple digital? The software it comes with is most likely the trick. SHe just needs to be able to hit a few comands and the pictures show up on the computer. I was looking at the Canon a590 is.

Any advice is appreciated.

As for the software to download it my mom is very tecnologically challenged and she finds it easy to use. We got her a card reader so she did not need to connect to the camera to the computer. She just puts the card in clicks the cannon software and she previews to choose view then download. That way she just checks the photos she wants and saves them to the computer. Now a few times she has forgotten where she saves them to, but that is purely user error. goodluck with your camera hunt.

You may want to wait until you are on the ship....i know they sometimes have great sales and no tax. Of course if you want a service plan then the ship would not be the way to go.

I just had to post and realize that no one is really going to care, but I actually got my research paper done early! It was due on November 17th, and I didn't want to stress about it while I was also stressing about being prepared for the trip, so I actually got it finished today. That's a record for me because I'm the queen of procrastination normally.;)

So........

BB removed from DD's sinuses----CHECK!

FE gifts done and packed----CHECK!

Research Paper done----CHECK!

Suitcases layed out----CHECK!

Packing list made----CHECK!

Door signs done----CHECK!

Oh, it's getting close!:cool1: I still have four more assignments to do before we leave for our trip, but they will be easy in comparison to that darn research paper! Okay, I'll quit boring you all to death, but I'm just a little excited here!;)

Hey Lady - Go watch a video!:lmao:

I'm heading, Judy! I have one for WDW and DCL and am trying to decide which one to watch first.:goodvibes I think this is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. If I'm lucky, I might even catch a little nap.

Susan

WOW Susan, what are you drinking out there Red Bull?? You have an awful lot of energy!!! I guess I better get cracking on things.

Susan,

I love the nonchalant "remove BB from DD's sinuses"! You sure have been busy.

Sorry about the outcome of the Bucs - Chiefs. I heard most of the game on the radio and was disgusted over the Bucs. I get home and they are 8 points from tying the game and end up winning.

One of those stupid things that get me exicted happened at Wal-Mart today. I bought a gallon of milk that had an expiration date AFTER we are onboard. Its getting real close!! Our next big event is surprising DD with the cruise Wednsday night. She is going to be so excited.

Ken - I love clams. Is conch the stuff that comes from the big shell you hold up to your ear to hear the ocean? Like the shell headed guy that kept having his head knocked off in the Pirates movies? Do they have legs? Do they look like hermit crabs?

I love those moments like you had today. It's so close!!!
I just watched the entire DCL video. I viewed the menus, toured the kids clubs, looked at appropriate dress in the restaurants and went on all of the excursions they showed. What a great trip!
I went to the drug store and bought some meds, toothpaste and shampoo for the trip. I've been doing laundry and a little cleaning all day. Tonight I relax.

You got the shell part right, but the inside is nothing more than a big snail. Its kind of like eating a big piece of chewy meat with little taste. Thats where the fritter part comes in, then they taste awesome. Plus you get the souvenir shell (just kidding about the souvenir shell, dont want to start a war with the wait staff at margaritaville)

I've never actually tried Red Bull. My DS has though, and he can NEVER have it again! He about drove us to drinking!:lmao:

When the expiration date on your milk is past your cruise date, you know it's getting close. Thanks for sharing that, Ken!

Guess what, Judy? You and I have done the same thing this afternoon. I watched the DCL video too and even snuck in a glimpse of Wilderness Lodge on the WDW dvd. I'm sure I'll watch the DCL one a few more times before we leave. I plan to make the entire family watch it one night with me but they just don't know it yet.:rotfl2:

Susan

Susan,
Congrats on finishing your paper!!! I am sure that is a load off. You certainly are productive.

I spent the entire afternoon responding to student emails and phone calls. Once Nov. 1 hit I have to start logging extra hours each week to make up for the week I am gone for the virtual classroom.

Ken,
Your milk thing cracked me up. You are so funny....now I am going to find me some Milk like that just for fun.

Off to make some dinner.

We were on the Magic for spring break and the wonder this summer and both times i brought on the cooler filled with water and gatorade - just no ice allowed.

You'll have to reach WAY in the back, but its there!!

Michelle - I thought the same thing. I'm going to the store tomorrow and find milk with an expiration date after the 21st!
I have been so bad this weekend. I ate 2 full sized Milky Ways last night. It's the first time I've had a candy bar since February. They were so good it's indescribable. When did they change the formula? There's now 45% more caramel and I swear there's more chocolate too. Then DH went to the store today and bought 6 Russell Stover caramel and chocolate pumpkins! I'm staying upstairs in the office so I'm not tempted! It's back to serious business tomorrow and counting all of my points. No cheating!
Ken - I was with you on the conch fritters until you called them a snail!:scared1:

Susan - You inspired me to watch the DCL video! I'll watch one of the Travel Channel ones tomorrow on the bus.

Judy,

You have to give them a chance!! Those poor little guys, thats all they have to look forward to, being a conch fritter . . . . the life of a snail, can you only imagine.

If I eat one I won't be able to stop thinking about Sponge Bob's pet snail "Gary".:snail:

I just ate another Milky Way and a snack size Snickers. That's it. I AM DONE! No more chocolate and junk.:guilty:

Teresa - Monday Night Football! Go Stillers. 8:30pm. I'll be tired on Tuesday! But that's ok because most of the city will be dragging along with me.

Susan-

Congratulations on finishing your research paper!! :thumbsup2

Mason just found out on friday that his science research notebook and research board is due the day before we leave for Port Canaveral. He will find out tomorrow if his idea is approved. Then, we need to start working on it!! I remember from last year.... :scared1:

Lisa

SUSAN--CONGRATS on the paper!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

OK ya'll. I've read about you watching the Travel Channel, your DCL videos, Blah, blah, blah--Just Kidding.

BUT--------------------------------------------

WE HAVE THE GOLDEN MICKEYS AND DISNEY DREAMS on DVD. We've been watching them. Nothing like a man swinging on a vine in a loin cloth:rolleyes1 Tarzan and Trashin the camp are my favorite parts of Golden Mickeys. I LOVE all of the music from Tarzan. I really need to find that soundtrack. I would love to have trashin the camp for my phone ring tone, but can't find it anywhere. If you want to know how I got the DVD's, PM me. I'd tell you here, but then I'd either be thrown off the boards or they'ed have to kill me.

 Stacie--We miss you

Hi all, we had a great Halloween weekend. We didn't have a lot of trick or treaters, but our girls did the neighborhood loop and thought it was great. We were out early Saturday on the soccer field with both of the younger girls scoring goals in their games :cheer2: The oldest was off this week but will have her last game next Saturday. As much as I love watching them play I will definitely be ready for our winter break from Saturday soccer games!! Saturday afternoon was so nice we went out to a small amusement park south of town and had a blast riding rides spending some down time as a family. Today was DH's birthday so we took him out to his favorite Mexian restaurant after church. Then he got to go grocery shopping with me...what a treat!

The kids are off school tomorrow for an in-service day. Unfortunately since I work at the school I have to go in for at least half a day. Since the principal will be gone to a conference, I've heard rumors that most of the teachers will not be returning after lunch.:cool1: Sounds like a plan to me!!
Have a great week,
Lorie
