Traveling to WDW in the evening

So we usually travel to WDW very early in the morning. But this trip I am considering traveling to WDW in the afternoon/evening (more flight options), stay at the resort that evening and then wake up ready to rock and roll in the morning. We will be traveling with a 1 yo, 2 yo and 5 yo.

Any thoughts? Any one done this with little ones? What is your favorite time of day to travel with the under 5 crowd?

I try to plan it so that their sleep schedule is not changed. Not tooo early in the morning, not too late in the evening. I aim for 11am or so flights which gets us there early afternoon then we head to HDDR for dinner.

When my kids were that age I would shoot for late afternoon. This way we could wake up normal time to start our day, travel and I like to arrive after 3/4 so our room would be ready when we arrived.

First day was usually a play it by ear day but if the weather was warm enough it was a swim and then dinner at the resort and then maybe a trip to the playground or something else physical depending on the resort before bed.

I think it depends on your kid. Some kids do much better in the morning after a good nights rest---others are a nightmare if they miss their afternoon nap.

That being said---when we first flew for the first time with my DS when he was 15 months, we flew mid-morning and it worked out well, but I was so nervous and worked up about flying home with a flight that left Florida at 6 a.m. because we had to leave our condo rental at 2:30 a.m. That flight actually worked better than the flight down to Florida because he slept the entire flight home.

No matter what you choose, bring snacks and activities for them and you will be more than fine. Good luck and enjoy your trip!
