We live in fort lsuderdale . So no airline tickets involved AP holders so room only booking . Is it crazy to attempt a labor day weekend trip?

No. Tens if thousands of people come year round, no matter the seaso. Plus if there's a storm you're better in Orlando than Ft. Lauderdale (if it's coming from that side)

With a room only, you can cancel as late as 5 days before. You will know by then if there is a hurricane coming. No worries!!

Yeah I mean the odds of a Hurricane actually hitting and having a major impact in Orlando are relatively small, all things considered. Even over the last couple of years it seems that Disney has only been impacted for a day or two at a time, WHEN a Hurricane shows up.

I do not think you should be overly worried..

Also, I think they let people cancel last year without penalty, so you could get back home or to a safer place.

We're booking the weekend before you (pre-cruise). It's a bit nerve racking and can only just cross our fingers and toes. We have insurance and mentally know that if we have bad luck, then we'll have to cancel. So just hoping for the best.

I have been Labor Day weekend for the last three years. Last year was the only time a hurricane was even close. I left on Saturday instead of Monday because they were talking about closing the airport on Monday, and I couldn’t find any flights for Sunday. I got a refund on my unstayed nights. (Actually I hadn’t even paid yet because it was only one day after I arrived, so I just had a tiny charge after my deposit. I didn’t do the math, but that was probably just the room charges I made at the food and wine festival)

I have been to Disney twice during a hurricane one time I left a day early ( day 5 in my 6-day trip) the other time I stayed) the CM was great about letting me do whatever I wanted either staying longer or leaving earlier and giving a refund I felt very safe the time I stayed during the hurricane and would do it again ( FL resident too) go have fun and they will help with whatever you chose ( whether you stay or go)
