Traveling to a resort you're not staying at

Are you able to drive to Port Orleans in the morning to get the Mickey Beignets? Or can you not get snacks at a resort without staying there or a reservation to a sit down restaurant?

This is going to be a "your mileage may vary" sort of a thing. But I'd bet they'll let you in there since PO isn't walking distance to a park, nor is it a monorail or skyliner resort.

Essentially you are always free to go to a resort you're not staying at but driving there could be the problem at least these days without an ADR they may or may not let you in.
If you use Disney transportation you will not have an issue at all.
I realize though that using Disney transportation early in the morning to get from one resort to another would be a hassle.

Have done exactly this using WDW transportation with never an issue. Can't answer the driving question.

I would use park transportation instead of driving over. Though I would imagine there must be parking for those that would have restaurant reservations.
I do not see why they would not let you into the resort.

We want to do the same thing but with ride share. We are currently debating if we should just do Disney Transportation instead even though it may be a hassle and take more time. It is our day off and we want to go, have beignets for breakfast and then take the boat to Disney Springs.

It's dicey to try to drive/park at a resort where you aren't staying, in that you might not be let in. I would take park bus transportation; alternatively, drive to Disney Springs and take the boat or bus from there.

Give it a try live dangerously. While I can't speak for always but our experience we have never had an issue going to resort for shopping or dining with or without an ADR. With that said until you approach the guard house at the entry you never know who you will encounter working there.

Like Mom2rtk said, I don't think it will be as much of a problem since it is not a monorail or skyliner resort. If all else fails, do a mobile order for the beignets right before and let the guard know you are picking it up. If they say no, cancel the order. I'd also live dangerously and try!

We use Uber/Lyft to resort hop all the time. Only push back we ever had was at Contemporary, but even then they still let us in.

Only time they may tell you that you cannot park is if they are really busy and they just do not have space...but we do not take busses and 99% of the time it is no problem.

Except that certain resorts routinely turn cars away without reservations. Typically these are ones close to the parks, or served by monorail or skyliner. When we stayed at Pop Century this summer, there was a sign board out front saying you couldn't park without a reservation (because of the Skyliner). My friend was there staying offsite in May and wanted to park and just ride the Skyliner around. They were turned away.

That said, I don't think it will be a problem at PO.

Experience would put me in the category of "you are probably ok to drive/park" at PO. Other resorts, like BLT, GF, BC, YC, BW are a bit tougher because of people trying to park all day for easy access to a theme park. PO really offers no real advantage. Worst case you'd be parked there 30-60 minutes for your breakfast, and then moving on to do something else. On the other hand, people would park in the morning at BLT and sometimes not return until the MK is closed - that's why they're stricter there. I think you should be fine for your Beignets. Enjoy!

Lived in the area until recently. Drove over very often for meals with ressies. But even with DVC/AP/FL Resident proof, there ARE times folks can't park at various resorts. The Guard Gate is in constant contact with the Chief Parking Mouse (whomever that might be) at each resort & there is ZERO way to predict whether guards can use discretion or have specific orders.
Why fret & maybe start a wonderful day on a negative note?
Take the bus, enjoy the ride. It's all part of the experience. :flower1:

Just a heads up... From what I can tell looking at menus, the beignets are only at Scat Cat's after 5pm. NOT available in the food court for breakfast.

Going from one resort to another using Disney transportation, you must go from your resort to a park/Disney Springs, then take transportation to the resort you want to go to. Plan an additional 1- 1 1/2 hours. We did this a couple of times and, tbh, didn't think it was worth the extra travel time. If we did resort to resort again, we would use uber/lyft.

Well….glad you posted because we wanted them for breakfast!!!! Uuuugh…..

They are at Scat Cat’s but they are available in the morning, too. We stayed at POFQ last week. I don’t know what time they started serving, but my daughter definitely got them one morning when she didn’t join us at a park.

Edit: I just checked my texts, and she sent the photo at 10:34, so they’re open by then.

We have done it multiple times with driving. Just stop at the guard shack and let them know that you are eating breakfast there. They should be totally fine with it. We have never had an issue even in the crazy covid times last fall.

We drove to Riviera to look around, guard would not let us in, went right over to Caribbean Beach, no problem. I'd give it a try! I think Riviera wouldn't let us in because of the skyliner, but then again Caribbean did, so go figure!
