My wife and I have reservations for the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at 5:15 on August 30th. We also have tickets to la Nouba in Downtown Disney at 9:00 on the same night. Will we have enough time for travel if we take disney transportation from the polynesian to Downtown Disney? Will the construction at Downtown Disney be an issue?

The construction will affect your travel time. I would double what you expect you would need. Not sure you will be able to make the 9pm time without being late.
The traffic leading into DTD is very congested and then you will have to walk from one end of DTD to the other to get to la nouba.

I would suggest taking a taxi.

If you got to the Poly bus stop and a DTD bus was right there you would be fine but often you wait a while for buses there. It would be very tight for time though.

Better option don't do both on the same night.

A taxi can drop you off close to the venue., the bus would drop you off by the Christmas shop on the opposite side.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I will look into a Taxi. How much would a taxi run from Poly to DD?

I have suggest you to take their to taxi which was save your more time.Because thier are so many taxi's are available.

Thanks for the replies. I emailed Disney in regards to this and they replied by saying that buses run every 20 minutes and DD is only 6.2 miles from the Poly and that we should be able to make it with plenty of time. What time should i expect the Spirit of Aloha show to end? 7:15?

How far do i have to walk from the show to get to the poly bus stop?

Could we potentially get a bus around 7:30 and be to DD by 8:00?

is it around a 15 minute walk from Marketplace to Cirque du Solei?

If we were to take a taxi, do I need to call in advance and do they pick up in the same area that the busses pick up at the Poly?

Sorry for so many questions. Just want to be sure on the best option to make sure we can m,ake it in time.

Thanks.

From the show at the Poly you will have to walk pretty much from one end of the property to the other to get to the bus stop. Don't forget that everyone is leaving and you won't be able to walk as fast as you might like to get out. In my experience the Poly buses as VERY slow. So you might wait more than 20 minutes for the bus. Again, at DTD you will be walking from literally one end to the other. It might be about a 15 minute walk.....depends how fast you walk and how crowded DTD is.

I don't think the Spirit show is too long...you are eating while it's going on. When it's over they rush you out so they can reset for the next show. If you are OK with not arriving to La Nouba early you would probably be fine with the bus. There are a lot of traffic factors involved. You could very well hit it lucky and get there in 45 minutes for it could take you 90 minutes. The only guaranteed way of getting there the fastest is by taxi.

I can't say if there are taxi's waiting at the Poly or not....I think no. You would be best to call ahead and arrange a pick up.

What did you expect them to say - our bus service is awful ? :rotfl:
I am in the camp of taking a taxi.
After the luau you will probably be about 15 minutes to the bus stop. Then you could easily wait 20, or more, minutes for a DTD bus. You have travel time in traffic to DTD Marketplace and then a l-o-o-o-ng walk from the Marketplace to Cirque. I think it is closer to 30 minutes than 15, again depending on how crowded it is, the construction detours in the pathways etc.
I would not risk my expensive Cirque tickets to save the cost of a taxi
Good Luck

Well, that's the ideal situation, but I have found that the deluxe resorts have very slow bus service - especially to DTD. I once waited 35 minutes for a bus from GF to DTD. I would count on waiting at least 20 minutes. After the wait, it's a 15 minute drive.

The show is 2 hours, so that's about right.

It's a pretty long walk, and the huge crowd will slow you down. It'll probably take about 20 minutes.

Could we potentially get a bus around 7:30 and be to DD by 8:00?

Not likely. That would take a miracle.

It's right at a mile, so more like 20 to 30 minutes

You just ask some one at bell services to call one up for you - they stay parked just out of sight.

Don't forget that they ask you to be at the theater 30 minutes before the show starts. This is not the kind of show that you can be late for.

Just an update: We were the first ones out of Luau Cove when the show ended and requested a taxi at the concierge desk at the Polynesian. Glad we got a taxi. Traffic was terrible out in front of Downtown Disney. Even the taxi could not get us to the Cirque de Solei drop off area as the road in to that area was closed. Due to all the traffic it took us around 40 minutes to get there. The driver was able to drop us off at the Pleasure Island entrance and we had time to stop for a drink at Hole in the Wall outside of Raglan Road for our walk over to La Nouba. We made it to our seats in time for the pre-show at 8:30.
