Traveling Disers are lost and adrift somewhere?

We will eat breakfast at this manor house: La Granja
http://www.lagranja.net/ - the photos are in flash so I can't show them here, but it looks so beautiful. Don't fear going to the web site, it is well worth it, and I have not found any issues with it - i seems safe.

One of the strong points of the visit to La Granja is the chance to sample some typical Mallorcan cooking - the buñuelos, freshly made from a mixture of potato flour and baking powder - various jams, fig bread, sobrasada, cheese, palo (liqueur) and hierbas (an aniseed based liqueur).

Fig bread has been made in Mallorca for many years and is indispensable during the cold winters in the country houses.

Various jams are also made on the premises, such as apricot, fig and orange and all from natural products. All of which you are invited to taste and are on sale in the shop.

LA GRANJA, situated 15 Km from Palma, is a beautiful 10th century mansion, surrounded by lush vegetation, beautiful gardens and natural fountains.

Greatly valued in Roman times for the vast quantity of water which flowed there, it still has a magnificent natural spring, thirty feet high, as evidence of its power. It was also of great interest to the Moors, who dominated the island from the 10th century until the 13th century. With the Christian conquest of 1229 a new phase begins, with a brief period of feudal possession, until in 1230 it was handed over to the Cistercian monks, who held it for 200 years, until it became the property of D. Mateo Vida. This family owned it for another 200 years, after which it was passed to the Fortuny family. The present owner is D. Cristóbal Seguí Colom.

La Granja – the result of many periods and changes – is a mixture of stately and rustic style, because, as well as being used as a residence, it was also an estate dedicated to agricultural production, which at one time had more than a hundred workers. This is what gives it the inexplicable charm of a well-preserved old building which maintains a very appropriate style of its own – but at the same time has the most decisive elements of our rich cultural past. Today it is a genuine living display of Majorcan customs through ages.

Mallorca..............think I'll be buying a vaction villa here! ::yes::

I considered marrying this dude once, just because he wanted to honeymoon here............I came to my senses though.
hmmmmmm, maybe I should have, since I still haven't made it there yet!

I had no idea Mallorca had so many beautiful hills and cliffs, not to mention those gorgeous poppy fields. Does anyone know if it's an expensive place to vacation?

Oh Suzannen! This is one of my biggest fears. Hopefully it will get under control very fast with the meds! I have never had chicken pox, my mother tried to expose me as often as she could while I was little to no avail, and I fear getting Shingles now as an adult. They have to take extra precautions for me while I am pregnant too.

castlegazer, don't worry - the truth is if you've never had chicken pox, you can't get shingles! Only folks who have had chicken pox can get shingles. The virus lies dormant in your system for years (or forever) and for unknown reasons in about 20% of the population become undormant and voila - shingles. According to the doctor, you're chances of shingles increases with the younger the age when you had it and the milder the case you had. I had only a mild case at age two so apparently I was a good candidate for it. But, as a pregnant person, you want to stay away from anyone with shingles while they are contagious because you could get chicken pox. Now that I'm on the anti-viral drug, I will no longer be contagious after tomorrow night, one of the reasons I'm staying in the house. I'd hate to be responsible for giving something like that to anyone.

And, I think your vacation idea sounds great. Sometimes a less planned out and less exotic trip is the most relaxing thing of all.

Hello - hello..... I was soaking my feet in the springs yesterday and next thing you know, I look up and everyone's gone! I think I am lost.

I am in Pollenca:
With its winding lanes and pale stone farmhouses dotted among the countryside, the area around Pollença has a typically Mallorquin feel. Many of our villas here are either converted farmhouses or have been built in the traditional style using Mallorcan stone, lending them their own distinctive character. All are a short distance from the picturesque old town of Pollença. At its heart is the colourful Plaza Mayor which is fringed with pavement cafés while, in the maze of streets surrounding the plaza, you’ll come across some excellent Mallorquin restaurants, tapas bars, galleries and specialist shops.

Puerto Pollenca:
Set within easy reach of the beach, our Puerto Pollença villas are handy for all the amenities of the town. Lying on a sheltered bay, Puerto Pollença is an attractive resort, with a host of cafés and restaurants along the promenade. The main focus of the town is the attractive yachting marina which is a hive of activity during the day. Behind the promenade the narrow lanes lead to a multitude of restaurants and shops. The beaches here are stunning, fringed with palm trees, the long stretches of sand shelve gently into the clear waters of the bay and are ideal for young families.

Oh, you'll get a kick out of this one. I got a backwards compliment from a midwife the other day - she wanted to feel the baby. While she was doing so, I told her that I was actually already able to feel movement and she said, yup, that's because your muscles have thinned in that area allowing you to feel more of the uterus.

UM, I guess that's good, right? But what she didn't say, was that due to that "muscle thinning", my tummy likes to do its own thing too.

PASS THAT DAMN PITCHER SISTA!

I hear ya CG! I bought a new bathing suit yesterday as I hate the one I currently have. I really wanted a tankini & I was glad to see that most of the ones I liked have tops that cover the top of the bottoms. Ain't nobody getting a look at this tummy. No way, no how.

um, sorry Ed.

;)

Swwooo Eddddd (said in as best of a lack of slur as possible), where are we shackin' up over the weekend?

*gasp* I'm married man!!!!
;) :p

Hmm well we are out here maybe we can go to Valencia for the weekend

valencia.jpg

The province of Valencia is the largest of the three which go to make up the Valencian community. It is situated in the centre of the spanish Mediterranean coastline. It overlooks the spacious Gulf of Valencia and is skirted at the back by a group of medium-high mountains and rolling plains leading to the lands of Aragon and Castile-La Mancha. It is opposite the Balearic islands and equidistant from the country's two major decision-taking centres: Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia is identified with the Mediterranean Sea because the culture deriving from the old Mare Nostrum is manifest in its patterns of social behaviour.

It is the administrative capital of the Valencian community and the centre of the reagion of L'Horta. It is the most densely populated town in the Valencian community as it is encircled by a wide belt of medium-sezed municipal districts which form an unbroken built-up area with an average density of 1,600 inhabitants per square kilometre. Sightseeing around the city begins in the old quarter. Until the mid-nineteenth century, it was defended by a wall, the inner route of the number five bus. Still standing as proof are the graceful Torres de Serranos, the spacious Torres de Quart and some remains of the apron wall in the basement of the Valencia institute of Modern Arts. The most outstanding artistic heritage is to be found in the districts of Seu and Xerea, where the marks left by thr Romans lie hidden beneath Arab ruins and modern churches and palaces.

Good Morning now that Valencia has seen the part life anyone have a suggestion.... more of Spain or should we Travel to Italy?

Since I was alone on the ship I made a long journey we are now on the back side of Africa on a set of Islands called the Seychelles, I figured CG could use a little mental R and R

Paradise on Earth is what they call the Seychelles. Seemingly forgotten out in the middle of the Indian Ocean, a thousand miles from Africa, this archipelago of more than a hundred islands stretches for hundreds of miles. The warm waters, high standards and friendly people draw many year after year to these Jewels in the Ocean that are the Seychelles. Island names such as Mahe, Praslin, La Digue, Aldabra and Desroches have enchanted travelers for years. Whichever way you turn, there is a lovely beach and upscale dining.

OH YEAH! Can't you just see me lying there along those rocks!!!!

Goodmorning everyone!!!!! I am sorry to have abandoned you last week. What happened was that I found myself at work on the Friday prior to vacation with suddenly too much work to finish as it was being piled on my left and right as people started to panic that I was actually brazen enough to go away for a week for vacation - God forbid! So what ended up happening was that during the first weekend and few days of the week of my vacation I had to work from the beach - that just sucks! I wanted nothing to do with the computer after that! I didn't even check voice mail on my cell phone after it either I was so pissed so if antkim called me to come up to the beach I didn't know it so I am sorry if she is around this morning.

Ed, you'll want to know that we went up to Portland one of the days and rode on the narrow guage railroad up there. It was awesome and truly a boy's dream outing. They have a great railway museum and its a great rain ride on the promenade. Your boys would really enjoy it.

We did a lot of nothing - and it was a great vacation. My husband and did get away one night up to Kennebunkport and stayed in a gorgeous inn called the Captain Lord Mansion and ate at the White Barn Inn - not something we would do every year that's for sure. It was outrageously expensive but awesome in every way.

We also got much further down the potty training road and my son I think is potty trained during the day. He even went in public restrooms!

OK, on to the Seychelles! Ed, isn't this where you were dying to get to?
