Does anyone belong to Travelers Advantage?

I got snookered into paying a dollar tonight for a 3 months trial period. It was only $1 so I said I would do it. Fully intending to get what I want out of it hopefully and get out.

I know that I have to get out within the next 3 months or I will get charged $90!

Anyway, they claim that they can beat airline prices by about 30%. I hope they are right.

I have it and I hate to say, but I haven't found it useful for airline tickets.

I do enjoy the 5% back on cruises and hotel stays which they can sometimes get a corporate rate so it is a good deal, but usually I can get better deals on the internet for airfare. They claim to match, but not internet fares. Don't book it with them until you checked Expedia or Travelocity since they often have better deals.I also find them useful if you happen to drive for a trip and need a hotel that ngith and they can get a decent deal for you and can book 24 hours. We often drive and just call for a ressie and then drive up to the hotel.

You also can buy Disneyworld Hoppers and Universal tickets with them and I found them to be a good deal since you get 5% back on those also. It's been a few years since I have bought them so check on the prices.

I did just what you are planning for my trip last fall. I signed up, followed all the guidelines, and received a check back from them as expected. (Sorry, we used this for hotels down and back ...so I don't have much advice about airfare)

My one word of advice.... I called to cancel, and then called back several weeks later to verify the cancellation. Good thing I double checked as the cancellation had not been processed. They were very apologetic, and promptly canceled it....just glad I didn't have to deal with trying to get a reimbursement if the trial membership had expired before I found out. Write down your "Cancellation Confirmation" number and all will be well.

I too have been a T.A. member for years, I receive discount coupons for car rental, list of direct discount hotel codes and "Hotels At Half Price booklet" which is like the Disney Club booklet but huge and if you call direct you can get 50% off the rack rate( Hard Rock Hotel , Swan Dolphin ,etc.)
T.A. will try to get the lowest price at the hotel you want to book and if you accept their res. they will reimburse 5% of the total bill less taxs after you mail in the receipts and their itinerary sheet they sent you.

I use there quartely coupon news letter for very good discounts on car rental.

MKFamilystone - do you have a current copy of the hotels at half price guide? Does it state the Universal Hotels are 50% off or up to 50% off? I know the Entertainment Book changed this year or last year. Need to know what TA states.
