We want to try the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge? Is it worth the extra time to travel there? How much time to travel there from Carribean Beach or the parks?

Thanks

Eva

If you are going from the Carribean, you will need to either take a taxi (unless you have rental car) or take bus to one of the parks and either catch a WL bus or the boat from the MK. We drove when we went in September (unfortunately, we found the food overrated and the service terrible and we won't be going back).

Ten minutes by boat from MK and less by bus, at least from DHS. No resort to resort transportation. We went from MK 10 days ago and were back in less than 2 hours.

We love WCC and will make the time to go! :) It's not to bad from MK, longer from other parks for sure. We just make sure and do it on a MK day. :)

It's a nice boat ride from MK. Not too long, relaxing with plenty to see. We ate at WCC once, and the food was ok, service was good, BUT, having read the boards, I was disappointed that our server didn't partake in any of the "fun" stuff, straws, ketchup, etc., Just straight up service and no horse race. My family didn't know the difference, enjoyed it, but didn't understand why it was a "must" on my list; I never let on that I expected more, it would have been a great surprise for them, but didn't want everyone to feel as I did. We were staying at WL, so it was fine, we had to eat, but if I had gone out of my way and didn't get any "show", I would have been more disappointed, probably annoyed.

Just an FYI.

Don't forget it is supposed to be a vacation! Plan a meal at WCC on one of your MK days. Either enjoy MK in the afternoon and then enjoy the wonderful boat ride over to the lodge OR after a leisurely afternoon at your hotel pool, take the bus to MK and then transfer to the boat for the (again) wonderful boat ride over. Then after dinner, enter MK for a lovely evening of Spectro and Wishes!

The lodge itself is worth the "trouble" of getting there. And I guess I'm just partial to leisurely boat rides!pirate:

I would eat at WCC during a MK day. You can take the boat, and afterwards, catch the boat back, then a bus to CBR.

DH and I ate there twice, several years ago. We went as a lunchtime break from the MK. It was a delightful boat ride and break from the chaos of MK. We do not plan on going back, though. The menu just doesn't appeal to us.

Rule of thumb for all Disney transport plan on an hour! That said, I agree with the posters who say make your ADR for a MK day and you'll make the transistion seemlessly with a lovely boat ride to and from the MK.
If you ahvea car, the ride form your resort to the WL will ebabout 15 minutes.

Nothing at Disney is too far away - the driving or riding Disney transportation isn't long. What is long is the logistics of getting onto that transportation. Waiting for the bus. Transferring buses. Getting from Epcot onto the tram that takes you out to the parking lot and getting to your car. Its only a fifteen minute boat ride, but you might wait 20 minutes for that boat.

Also the pain of shared transportation can make a short trip longer. If you need to make extra resort stops on the bus - that can easily add fifteen minutes.

Also, if you aren't familiar with Disney roads - it isn't necessarily really easy to get from one place to another. We don't drive Disney much, but when we do we often find ourselves going the wrong direction. After many trips - and a few with a car - it happens less.

When doing resort to resort travel for restaurants, we build cabs in to the plans - its fast, we don't get lost

We like WCC and except for when we stay at the Wilderness Lodge, we'd plan it for an MK day. The boat ride is nice and it is a nice break from the park. After dinner, we return for Spectro if it is showing and the fireworks.
