We live 3 hours from the airport. We live in Idaho so its a long travel day for us. normally we drive down to Salt lake City the night before and stay the night. do park and fly and leave about 6 am. flight comes in to MCO about 3 pm (depends on the day)
This year I am debating taking a noon flight out the day before, parking at airport and arriving 830 pm.

Pros: more time at MK that first day,
Cons: paying for an extra night in WDW (however would pay for the hotel in SLC), have to pay for airport parking, late arrival

So in question would you?
A) drive to SLC Monday night, park and fly, fly out Tuesday 6 am, arrive MCO around 3 pm
B) drive to SLC Monday morning leaving about 730 am, fly out 12 noon, arrive monday night 830 pm.

I guess the idea of a late check in kinda scares me.... we have always done A... girls will be older though. DD11, and dd9

:) I would arrive night before--DH have done that the last two trips and it has been great. Get to room about 10p.m. or so and relax, take shower, good night sleep....then up to see Mickey first thing. I had booked 5/1-5/8 (Sun-Sun) at AKV but it was cheaper to fly in on a Sat--gee I hate that, getting to Disney a bit early  So of course I got the cheaper airline ticket then we rented another night at AKV for 4/30 from a fellow Disser

:thumbsup2 Don't worry about a late check in, they will be waiting for you. You will have the front desk to yourself practically and the bellman are there waiting. Our experience has always been great.
