Travel time?

We'll be in San Diego the 1st week of May for a conference and coming in a few days early. How is the traffic and travel time from SD to Disneyland.

Also, how close is LA/Hollywood to DL? We are from the mid-west and don't get to the west coast often, want to see as much as we can in a few days as far as LA in concerned. We will be most likely be spending most of our time in SD. Should we try to get a hotel in LA for a few days or just stay in SD and drive back & forth.

Also, any suggestions on what to do, restaraunts etc. It will be myself, DH, and 2 20 year old boys, (my ds & friend). What I know... we are planning on The SD Zoo & DL and a trip out to the Naval station, hit the beaches. What else?

It depends greatly on the time of day and day of week when driving. Since you have multiple parties you will find carpool lanes in most of LA. But when leaving SD you might aim for early morning to get to DL for opening.

Traffic aside the drive takes about 1.5 hours from SD to DL and about 45 minutes longer to Hollywood. This is with constant speed limit driving. Accidents and Flat tires can cause big back ups.


It would be nice to have a hotel in LA and not go back to SD each day.
